Intersex youth are being sexually victimized by the medical industry. Many are subjected to invasive and unnecessary medical procedures to make them fit into the inaccurate and stereotypical “male” or “female” categories. These surgeries are a form of state-sanctioned sexual violence. This must end.

We know that trans and nonbinary people experience violence in many forms, including domestic and sexual violence, at high rates. New research released by @pridestudy.org offers insights about ways that gender-affirming care can reduce symptoms of post-traumatic stress over time.

At a recent event, we used "time travel" to imagine liberatory possibilities for ourselves and our communities. Imagining our futures is the first step in creating them. In a world where trans people are safe, supported, protected, and loved, what does it look like for you to "come home"?

We asked trans people about their experiences with multiple forms of violence, motivated by their trans/nonbinary identity. 69% had been sexually harassed, and 59% had been sexually assaulted. For many trans/nonbinary people, sexual violence and hate-motivated violence happen at the same time.
