Intersex youth are being sexually victimized by the medical industry. Many are subjected to invasive and unnecessary medical procedures to make them fit into the inaccurate and stereotypical “male” or “female” categories. These surgeries are a form of state-sanctioned sexual violence. This must end.

We asked trans people about their experiences with multiple forms of violence, motivated by their trans/nonbinary identity. 69% had been sexually harassed, and 59% had been sexually assaulted. For many trans/nonbinary people, sexual violence and hate-motivated violence happen at the same time.
