Stop New York's Attack on 3D Printing New York's proposed 2026-2027 budget currently includes provisions that will require all 3D printers sold in the state to run print-blocking censorware—software that surveils every print for…

Buried in New York’s state budget are provisions that would require 3D printers to block certain designs, in an attempt to restrict 3D-printed guns.

But.. the details aren’t defined, the tech won’t do what policymakers think it can, and circumvention could be easy…

There is white stuff falling from the sky again! My wife asks, "can we pretend that it's pollen?" 🤣

Alas, no... this is just "spring" in #Vermont.

The irony, of course, is that I'm starting the morning at a mechanic getting the snow tires swapped off for the summer tires on one of our cars. 😃

Fascinating visualization of power plants around the world - opengridworks.com/power-plants - I like that you can toggle different types of power plants on and off. Very useful to see!

This paper brings me back some 20-ish years where I had an idea for a startup that would help people think about how their blogs would continue after their death (because at that time blogs were the big thing). I remember I had a catchy name (that I forget 🤣)... but no capacity to launch the idea.

Very interesting and useful paper on a critically important topic ... what happens to all our digital assets when we die? How are we setting up our estate plans / wills to ensure our heirs can access our info? Something I don't think we collectively pay enough attention to...

The Canadian government wants you to focus on Part 1 of the Lawful Access Act (Bill C-22), but this is what Part 2 will enable. Secret ministerial orders are the groundwork for turnkey totalitarianism.

Library on Quebec-Vermont border gets new entrance after U.S. limited access for Canadians The century-old library in Stanstead, Que. that straddles the Canada-U.S. border now has a new door so Canadians can get in after the U.S. limited entry to the building last year.

For 120+ years, there has been the curious case of the Haskell Free Library that straddles the US / Canada border between #Vermont and #Quebec. Last year, US policies restricted Canadian access to the main door... so a new door had to be built! Opens in June...

Winners of the 2026 Photo Contest Our 6 winning images stood out from hundreds of entries showcasing technology around the world

Great photos from the Rest of World's 2026 Photo Contest! Of course given that I've been monitoring Low Earth Orbit ( #LEO) solutions for #InternetAccess, I like that the winning photo showed the contrast between a train of #Starlink satellites in the sky -

So if I read this correctly, all sats above 750-ish km basically … stay in space indefinitely? (i.e. have an average lifespan greater than 60 years?)

The US-Israel war on Iran is accelerating de-dollarization and America’s decline | Ahmed Moor De-dollarization promises to reorder the world, reducing American power globally

“The Iranian government is requiring some ships to pay a toll of roughly $2m. But it’s the currency in which the toll has been collected – Chinese yuan – which may suggest a concrete challenge to American power in the world.

“Nature doesn’t need us. We need nature.
When the last wild space is paved for profit, no amount of wealth will restore the web of life that feeds and heals us.
Shift from exploitation to stewardship. The Earth will thank us — and so will our descendants. 🌱

Starting off my third day at #IETF125 with the Birds of a Feather (BoF) named:

Coordinating Agent To Agent List of efforts
(CATALIST)

It is a session to look at all the various efforts the #IETF has been doing around #AI ... and decide what makes sense.

My second day of #IETF125 brings a dilemma for the first session- I want to be in 3 places!

- IRTFOPEN - internetworking challenges for #AI

- TIPTOP - extending #Internet to the Moon / deep space

- GAIA - expanding #InternetAccess on Earth

All will be recorded, but the interaction is key!

Thanks for your kind words! And yes, the article is definitely open to edits… this was just a first version. I would be delighted if other people added to it, ideally directly in Wikipedia.

This is authoritarianism, plain and simple.

The Trump administration is targeting states that didn’t vote for him — including my home state of Vermont.

Using federal power to punish political opponents is anti-democratic and blatantly illegal.

On open protocols, your main goal should not be to serve everyone. We tried that, and it's a mess out there.

Serve your community, the one you understand the needs of. Build something *you* want. You'd be surprised at how many you's are out there waiting for the exact same thing.

Now… I don’t know how many people will stream from the iPhone vs use OBS or something on the desktop, but since you offered the option in the app I decided to try it.

Other than ☝️, the experience was quite good. Nice job!

… but that was not intuitive to me. I would suggest having a button or something that was very clear about how to end. (Unless I completely missed it!)

Also, I found a couple of times that the keyboard wouldn’t go away, and I had to randomly tap things until it eventually disappeared.

@iame.li - Hello! So I just tried my first stream from the iPhone app today, and my big piece of feedback is that… I had no idea how to END my live stream! 😱

There was no button to end or anything. I eventually figured out that if I clicked the arrow in the top left to “go back”, but…

Welllll... first I have to setup OBS again and get that all going. 😃The computer I was using for my livestreaming died... (hard drive failure!)... and I just never got around to setting up another one. I mean... OBS is not hard at a basic level... but I just have to go do it!

Today, for over 6 billion people the #Internet is woven into the fabric of our daily lives - and that is enabled by the open standards created by the #IETF ! From IP and TCP to DNS to HTTP to TLS and more... those interoperable standards are what make the Internet possible! Congrats on 40 years! 🎉
