Síðustu erfðasýnatökur ársins úr laxseiðum eru nú í gangi á Vesturlandi. Verið er að safna eins árs seiðum til að skoða umfang erfðablöndunar í kjölfar stroksins í Kvígindisdal í Patreksfirði 2023. Myndskeið frá Kjallakstaðaá og Tunguá (Galtardalsá) við Fellsströnd.

Ingibjörg G. Jónsdóttir at @mfri.bsky.social along with her co-authors Jón Sólmundsson, Peter J. Wright, William Butler and Pamela Woods published a paper in the ICES Journal of Marine Science.
The study explores the roles of total egg production and the survival of young fish in their first year.
Two new studies led by the University of Iceland in collaboration with the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute uncover hidden stock structure in Northeast Atlantic blue whiting, a key species for ecosystems and fisheries.

MFRI´s seminar 9 October focuses on Poleward Ocean heat transport. Lars Henrik Smedsrud (University of Bergen) gives the talk: An updated Nordic Seas Overview – no sign of weakening transports or AMOC. Everyone is welcome, on-stite and online. More info and link to an online meeting on www.mfri.is
MFRI´s research vessel Thorunn Thordardottir is on a charter from for a research project focused on the oceanography and current measurements in the East Greenland Coastal Current. The measurements of this project aim to assess its possible impact on AMOC stability. www.hafogvatn.is/en/about/new...
The 2025 capelin autumn survey will be conducted from 23 August to 22 September. The survey aims to estimate the abundance of both the immature and mature parts of the capelin stock in the Iceland-East Greenland-Jan Mayen area (IEGJM).
