The immature m White-winged Scoter with its male partner, showed well this morning.
Unfortunately for me the scoter flocks have been well offshore the past few days!
Red-necked Grebe Ferny Ness also.

Mate of mine had 2 still last weekend, 1 off Sicar, with the other in Pease Bay

Yes, definate hybrid. There are many of these throughout the Edinburgh area & beyond, some of which are as well marked as this bird, with some even closer to hooded crow & others closer to carrion.

A fem Marsh Harrier persued by crows at Aberlady was nice.
Although dissapointed it was a day too late to make it for February, i was delighted to find out it was Loths earliest ever, after a bird @kgbirder.bsky.social & I had at Scoughall on 11/3/07.

Also in his excellent talk @rossahmed.bsky.social mention the top 5 or 10 species to arrive in Scotland, i was immediately struck on just how few of these had occured on Barra!
Well done to all for making it a great 3 nights

I think increased coverage is true for Barra, a group of us have been annual since 2002, with others both visiting and staying. Pror to to then not a single bird recorded, but could this increase also be weather related?
Given the lack of data prior to 2002 perhaps we will never know!

Better shots than my digiscoping efforts, despite it being between 60-100m offshore at times!
