Some top Meditteranean birding the last few days on Ventotene. Good to be back after 10yrs away! #Ventotenebirding @laziobirder.bsky.social
Great shots Bruce, particuarly in that wind today!
A nice imm peregrine to end the working day!
Sporting a darvic no less, so be good to find out where it was hatched!

Job satisfaction today when upon hearing a commotion outside i looked out to see an imm White-tailed Eagle heading my way, the bins now just an arm reach away!

Nice, everything was up here in Aberlady, saw nowt but 15-20 mins later you txd your eagle out!
Mmmmm😂
Maybe Lothian's earliest even?
Bumped into my 4th White-billed Diver of the year in Lothian today at Torness, impossible to say if its a new bird or not after the recent influx, but enjoyable anyway!

The immature m White-winged Scoter with its male partner, showed well this morning.
Unfortunately for me the scoter flocks have been well offshore the past few days!
Red-necked Grebe Ferny Ness also.

Top drawer Frank, well done!
I have been looking out for a Bonaparte's Gull, so when i encountered this small gull at Aberlady head on, it had me going for a second!
Not what i was hoping for but very nice anyway!

Mate of mine had 2 still last weekend, 1 off Sicar, with the other in Pease Bay
Yes, definate hybrid. There are many of these throughout the Edinburgh area & beyond, some of which are as well marked as this bird, with some even closer to hooded crow & others closer to carrion.
A fem Marsh Harrier persued by crows at Aberlady was nice.
Although dissapointed it was a day too late to make it for February, i was delighted to find out it was Loths earliest ever, after a bird @kgbirder.bsky.social & I had at Scoughall on 11/3/07.

Possibly even White-billed Diver, as theres been quite a few around?
Out working along Lothian's North Sea coastline again today.
Highlights were 48 Whooper Swan NW past Dunbar, 2 Slavs (scarce in those parts), 2 Snow Bunt, & a pale billed diver i put down as a GND, for now!
Also siskins on the move.

Also in his excellent talk @rossahmed.bsky.social mention the top 5 or 10 species to arrive in Scotland, i was immediately struck on just how few of these had occured on Barra!
Well done to all for making it a great 3 nights
I think increased coverage is true for Barra, a group of us have been annual since 2002, with others both visiting and staying. Pror to to then not a single bird recorded, but could this increase also be weather related?
Given the lack of data prior to 2002 perhaps we will never know!
Better shots than my digiscoping efforts, despite it being between 60-100m offshore at times!
Like buses here these days Steve!🤣
Nice to bump into this imm m White-winged Scoter at Port Seton today whilst looking for shag darvics.
Also RN Grebe offshore with 6 grey wagtails along coast to Aberlady.

Also are both in moult, and are both adults?
Nice! I might make a visit soon!
Are these different from the Dunglass bird that has been reported?
A 8km walk from North Berwick-Aberlady resulted in 2 White-billed Diver (N. Berwick & Gullane Pt) single Great Northern Diver (Yellowcraig) 9 Snow Bunting, 15 Crossbill. @birdinglothian.bsky.social #BirdingScotland #BirdingLothian
