Yeah, Masto has more user control of where posts appear. Here everything is visible to everyone always, which causes trouble. But here you can turn off replies per post, which you can't do on Masto.

Yes, what we did at Fray was show the first page of replies (10) before giving you the ability to reply. Here you could show a few of the "best" (however that's defined). It improved replies dramatically!
