Finished blocking in the Standard Bearer, and I think I'll need to punch up the yellows once I get to them later. I'm thinking that it'll be oils tomorrow

Feeling a bit of a pull on things I've managed to hammer out another cannon for my epic Confederates.
I reckon if I split what I have into 10 southern and 14 Union plus 2 Zouaves each that'll be a good main body. Much more than that won't be able to maneuver on my table!

Just in case you have a spare 45 minutes and you missed this at Salute… I was on a panel talking about terrain, battlefields and wargaming.

Advanced Squad Leader, Hatten In Flames map, covering most of my folding table. It has dozens of counters arrayed on the battlefield.
Playing the ASL Hatten In Flames short campaign, I’m starting to get why larger battles and scenarios appeal to people. It’s cumbersome on the tabletop, but the added scope adds a narrative weight and impact that smaller scenarios can’t quite equal.

@yarkshiregamer.bsky.social's table at #salute today
I am not at #salute53 like all the cool kids - so I've finished off some new 2mm terrain for Strength and Honour. Particularly pleased with the temple complex, and will be making some new woods in the future.

Book review: The Star Captains by Tom Wareham. If you are looking for the stories of naval actions, this is probably not the book for you. However, if you want to know more about how frigates were commanded, this is an invaluable data source. balkandave.blogspot.com/2026/04/the-...

Battle before the walls of Troy!
I've added the first Trojans to my collection, including massed ranks of Trojan Spearmen, the armoured Royal Guard and the first of the Trojan Allies - this time Anatolian allies, represented by Hittites.
Still planning other allied contingents and many chariots.

Ran a game of The Silver Bayonet with the kids - great to get it on the table for more than a solo game. Brits took an abandoned farmhouse from a mob of bandits and deserters only to be ambushed by some revenants rising from the fresh graves. The living prevailed. We go again tomorrow.

I'm heading out of town for a week for work, so I'll have to put the streak on pause til I'm back home, but I finished up the horse tonight so I can focus on the knight when I'm back
