The University of Alaska is in trouble folks.

Based on these two documents, three words have been banned from public facing web pages and in many cases web pages containing these words have been deactivated.

This is erasure, censorship, and the active banning of words without legal precedent.

The University of Alaska's Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program has (seemingly) scrubbed most instances of "Alaska Native" on its website. This coincides with the UA Board of Regents voting to get rid of DEI-related language.

A photograph of fireworks near downtown Anchorage. The fireworks are glowing orange and blue to the left of the main downtown areas. Buildings are glowing in the dark as smoke from the fireworks drifts over the tops of the buildings. The scene reflects perfectly in the water surrounding downtown.

Fur Rondy Fireworks this evening in Anchorage, AK with a great refection over the water. I chose this spot to capture the smoke drifting to the right and over downtown.

Stay tuned for a timelapse!

1/10 Alaska love story time. Southeast of Ketchikan is a beach along the South Tongass Highway, what some call Rotary Beach, but which for longer has been known as Bugge Beach. Below undated Bugge Beach painting by Jules Dahlager (1884-1952). #alaskahistory #alaska #ketchikan

how did we go from broadly and publicly celebrating the sled dog who brought life-giving diphtheria antitoxin to Nome to having both Alaskan senators vote to confirm a guy who doesn’t believe in vaccines as the director of health & human services????
