When researching what can go wrong w/ #edtech integration (at the classroom/building/and district level), I found educators citing the exact same problems today that they flagged 10+ years ago.
I went out searching for guidance on carving a path forward.
My latest for @edutopia.org:
So much wisdom in this article! Reflecting on my time as an administrator, and remembering MANY challenging interactions that could have been better if I had used these three R's.

#EduInFocus Q1 - First, there needs to be a culture of trust in the building. Informal walk-throughs, a "pineapple" welcoming system, learning walks, and other similar activities need to occur frequently so that staff don't equate a visit with an evaluation.
The art of teaching is often in taking what is standard practice and looking for ways to make it more effective in the classroom.
These are 15 of my favorite ways to tweak common formative assessment techniques to increase student reflection and ownership in the assessment process.

Such great, actionable suggestions! Loved this article - thank you!
So we're not really going to have a deadline.
Teachers: With every student you lift up, every idea you nurture, and every quiet moment of encouragement you offer, you are making an impact that lasts far beyond a school year.
Our team came together to offer our personal thank yous. Happy #TeacherAppreciationWeek from all of us at Edutopia!
Genius!

I did it too. I think that was such an important skill - both the understanding of the grade and the math involved.
As simple as it sounds, posting work on the classroom walls works wonders. As a junior high teacher, I thought the students didn't care about seeing their work, but once I started posting, they loved it! #EduInFocus
“Did it work? Anyone? Anyone know the effects? It did not work, and the United States sank deeper into the Great Depression.” Ferris Bueller’s Day Off for the win.

Movement, writing, and sketchnoting!
I often include silly questions, making fun of myself or something similar, to lighten things up.
A quality physical education program helps students in SO many ways. Thank you for these great suggestions!
This article has so many great suggestions—thank you! I especially like the ability to differentiate assignments yet only post one URL—no one knows that the task might be different for others.

"Some of the most valuable insights come not from rushing to get things done, but in the messy, unhurried act of giving something my full and undivided attention." So true, yet so challenging in this age of multi-tasking!
Remember, you DON'T have to grade everything!
Thank you for this article! Prioritizing the stakeholders' social and emotional needs must come before focusing on academic needs.
It is a good tool for focusing on what is truly important and where you should focus. The challenge is the nonstop, urgent things that constantly pop up in an administrator's day.
Such a good point! As a teacher, I love to talk, but it is good to remind myself that I have two ears but only one mouth for a reason ☺️
People will rise to the challenges you give them...when they are seen and know they can take chances. Meanness has no place in leadership.
I would use ChatGPT and Magic School to help draft emails to families or to help revise drafts that I had written. I also use Grammarly to help with my coma splices 😄
Join us for @edutopia.org's slow chat: bsky.app/profile/edut....
If, like me, you're unsure what a slow chat is, it means we'll post one question a day. 🦥 It's open now, check it out and add your two cents!
I liked to use it in science to point out possible misconceptions students might have.
