My one purchase for #RecordStoreDay2026, Nite Flights, the 1978 studio album by The Walker Brothers. David Bowie fans will be familiar with the title track, which he covered on Black Tie, White Noise years later. An interesting listen that is of its time in places while timeless in others. #vinyl

Saturday is #RecordStoreDay. I caught up with Ben Frith of Vancouver's Neptoon Records to talk about how #RSD has evolved since 2007 and how he keeps it fresh and interesting every year. @citynewsvancouver.bsky.social

I love them
Spent the day hooking up and test driving my dad’s old stereo components. The Akai tape deck, the Sansui G-7500 receiver and SE-9 Compu-Equalizer are almost as old as I am. Soundtrack courtesy of The Cockroaches.
Whatever you may think of the result of the #Hungarian election, one takeaway is the peaceful transfer of power. In a country with fragile democratic traditions, it is reassuring to the see the loser of an election concede to the winner. Hungarians have bled and died for this.

Great books here by Wiley Wei-Chiun Ho, Tom Hawthorn, Eve Lazarus and others. And thanks for including Cheapskate in Lotusland!

#OTD in 1958, Ripple Rock in BC’s Seymour Narrows was “blown to smithereens.” Here is a story I filed for @cheknews.ca for the 50th anniversary. A hat tip as well to Skye Ryan who introduced the piece. youtu.be/RTTOUJMX-Og
i'm not really in radio right now (i miss it big-time), but man evolution at BCIT was some of the most fun i've had in school or work. i'm not who i am without it, and i hope that we can look back on stories like this and laugh about the peril that could've been.
Sadly too late for Camosun’s radio station where I learned which buttons to push and when.
Student-run stations are great places.
I got my start in campus radio — @cjsfradio.bsky.social at SFU — just having fun and spinning tunes. Places like that like CITR, CHLY, and CIVL — and Co-op Radio too — should be celebrated and supported. vancouver.citynews.ca/2026/04/05/d...

From Jack White with love comes #67 in his Third Man Records Vault series, Jimi Hendrix Valley of Jams 1969-70. It’s an all instrumental collection of studio jams spread out over three pieces of coloured vinyl and a bonus 45. Fascinating peek-behind-the-curtain kind of stuff. #vinyl

Looked what decided to show up today: the four LP deluxe edition of Aerosmith’s self-titled debut album. Sounds incredible. I’m really enjoying it so far. Hope my neighbours are too! #vinyl
