Oh man I have brain fog too
if you're using something for free...
IT CAN GO AWAY.
the operator might be struggling, or not even interested really.
and if you're running free infra, add a payment tier!
make co-ops, run community infra together.
but learn from the past: magical thinking does not make a healthy atmosphere.
Stayed up last night designing the slides, but more particularly this one #atmosphereconf

Another community theme has hit the #AtmosphereConf website 🥳🎉
Check out @semble.so, thanks to @pouriade.com for submitting!
In modern computing, the split isn’t between power users and regular users. Increasingly, you’re either a power user or a disenfranchised user.
Created this collection today for *handpicked*, algorithm-free music. Go ahead and add whatever you’re listening to 💫
Already dropped a bunch from @bandcamp.com, @plyr.fm and youtube

Hilke and Boris at Z-Space. Hilke is jet lagged! I need to shave badly!
We’re looking forward to our next imaginary number future reverse people signing.
We hit 1000 guestbook sign ins at @z-space.ca today!
@hilk.eu hit the button and captured the whole crew who came for member show & tell
Thank you to @jonny.z-space.ca who built the tech & made the space & brings the energy to connect us together.
Following is here in Semble! You can now follow other users and collections 👣✨

My take on the "explaining atproto" discourse is that all the UX/filesystem/etc metaphors are still very verbose and that you can explain the same idea in a lot less words: It separates data from apps, so any app can use data from any other app. That fits in a tweet, with other sentences around it.

Semble search is now live, adding a powerful discovery layer to Semble! Check it out at semble.so/search
Here’s what makes it different >
Stoked to launch the first @aetheros.computer app from our docs suite today!
PitchDeck is an atproto app that lets you create presentations and share them on the web or in person.
It includes a presenter mode with keyboard/swipe support, a synced laser pointer, speaker notes and a built-in timer.
I can’t believe it’s only been two months since we launched! It's been so much fun
"A really clear, and very simple, early example of how we learned that lesson was when we changed the size of the box that people used to type in just to create the posts on their sites. We made the box a little bit taller, mostly for aesthetic reasons. Within a few weeks, we’d found that posts on sites like Gawker had gotten longer, mostly because the box was bigger. This seems obvious now, years after we saw tweets get longer when Twitter expanded from 140 characters to 280 characters, but at the time this was a terrifying glimpse at how much power a couple of young product managers in a conference room in California would have over the media consumption of the entire world every time they made a seemingly-insignificant decision."
I think we underestimate the power of user interfaces (and thus apps) and how such power is concentrated in the hands of the few who are able to produce such interfaces.
Thanks, yeah this is something we’d eventually need to address. I’ll try to make time and have a look later this week
Thanks!
Oh amazing!
I tried to revisit this today for some design inspiration but it seems to be down :(
Thanks, will have a look when I get a chance
Collections or URL + notes would be more useful, the URL card alone wouldn’t be much different from a Leaflet link embed (at least for now). Getting notified about any of these would be great
So many awesome references shared in this session, I created with a Semble list to collect them!

Semble links as "mentions" feels like a fun new pattern to explore (could also be automated to a degree)
