While the zine where I submitted my story holds onto it for SIX MONTHS, I think of 10 ways to re-write it, and the fact that in that time I could've sent it to six other zines and received replies.

because a story is out for many months, doesn't necessarily mean rejection. I've had cases where I assumed the story was lost and they accepted. It's a frustrating world out there.
