The parents demanding clean air while their children fight for breath | South West Londoner Ruth’s 9-year-old has been admitted to hospital 18 times with breathing problems, she is one of many fighting for clean air in London.

Air pollution levels are still too high in London. What happened to reaching World Health Organization #AirPollution guidelines @mayoroflondon.bsky.social?

This is a hard-hitting read about the effects of breathing dirty air on our kids.

Cameras to be used to catch cars in school zones Cars and other vehicles driving through roads designated as school streets zones will be fined using cameras for the first

It's good to see that @brighton-hove.gov.uk will start using cameras to enforce their #SchoolStreets from September.

Using cameras makes School Streets more sustainable - schemes shouldn't be relying on volunteers long-term. #AirPollution #ActiveTravel

Also need to look in closer detail here (UK Air Quality Pivot Table: 1970-2024) & consider cost-benefit to society. A tiny minority (<3m) of people burning solid fuel cause more PM2.5 pollution than 42m vehicle exhausts & power stations (even incl. Drax)

It’s time to Electrify London We’re campaigning in three key policy areas where we believe boroughs can make significant progress towards Electrifying London

⚡ It’s time to Electrify London ⚡

Road transport causes 28% of the city's CO₂ emissions and 42% of NOx. This is a major health and climate issue.

EVs aren't the whole answer - but we do need local parties to make switching to them easier.

8.30am on Beckenham High Street during Easter Break. You'd hardly know it's the morning rush hour!

This shows how much car traffic comes from school travel. If our streets were genuinely safe for parents & children to walk & cycle, we could permanently reduce traffic for safer streets & cleaner air

Energy giant Drax pulls out of UK climate plan Ministers were told to lock the biomass giant into an agreement on carbon capture. The government ignored them, and now Drax has walked away.

In 2018 Drax promised “significant progress” on BECCS by 2023. It never happened. Now they’re shelving it while burning wood from US deforestation without capturing the carbon. Time to end the subsidy deal and shut down the UK’s biggest emitter. https://loom.ly/UsetJvs
