Around *1/5* of all the species that live in a natural forest need dead wood.

So no, it's not 'wasted' or 'untidy'. Even in your garden, spare a thought and leave it for them.

A decade ago, this was bare clay. Not rich humus, but sub-soil.

It has since been naturally colonised by a diverse range of flora, including mosses, ferns, lichens, flowering plants, and tree species.

The basis of rewilding is nature's inate, very powerful capacity to rebuild itself if we let it.

The impacts of non‐native species on UK biodiversity and the effectiveness of control 1. The introduction of non-native species continues to cause ecological concern globally, but there have been no published reviews of their effects in the UK. Impacts in the UK are therefore reviewe...

If non-native species affect ecosystems, we need to demonstrate if and how these are negative impacts,

rather than simply assuming they are because the species are non-native

We made this point over 25 yrs ago, but still it has to be repeated

Could river restorations be key to easing floods? Climate change is bringing warmer, wetter winters, which means more frequent flooding.

“Could river restorations be key to easing floods?”

To some extent yes, but tackling climate change is the key issue

(& a lot of the surface flooding we’ve seen recently is nothing to do with rivers)
