Does the canine companion have any magical powers or anything like that?

I used to use Hero Forge to help visualize my characters!
What's the premise of the story?
I'm taking a guess based on the title and Labyrinth:
A crazy family traps people inside of a labyrinthian dungeon.
Is that at all accurate?
TheDragonblood title with time travel has me wondering, do the characters travel back in time to find dragons? Like, dragons are kind of like dinosaurs in that setting?
An internet story I can't remember very much of gave me the broad setting of The Town that Banished Death, and I specifically set out to make the kidnapped princess story feel like Fire Emblem, which is a game series with many tropes that I love
All the more rewarding for how much trouble there was getting there

What is the premise?
Basically! She's the secret daughter of a lord (line of succession is messy; her dad sent her away as a child to keep her safe, she doesn't even know her heritage), and the rebels' insider told them of her. They frame the war as *her* war to make it easier to get the support of the people.
Fantasy winter stories always make me think of the Norse Fimbulvetr. Are there survival/apocalyptic elements in the winter wip?
Thanks!
and ended up coming back to it when looking for something new to work on. I came up with the title The Town that Banished Death independently, and magic happened when I put it together with the loose story ideas.
Thanks!
I can't remember the title or where I found it, I found a story online about a year ago where the main character has a sick brother, and they live in the forest. That's about all I can remember lol, but the scenario appealed to me so I jotted down a few ideas for a story in that vein...
Copy/paste from Twt :)
Ah shucks!
In these specific cases, I actually came up with the titles first and thought they were cool and tried to build up stories worthy of them. I think it's working! But most of the time, it takes literal years to come up with titles through numerous drafts of each story
...where young woman's family is banished from a town where people never die, because they fear the sickness her mother and brother have. They secretly live on the outskirts and have infinite time to ponder death and the meaning of life while sickness ravages them (2/2)
#FantasyIndiesApril day 21: Ask about my WIPS:
A Mountain Tiger's Scream - mentally challenged young man with heart of gold joins monster hunting guild
Captured Princess WIP - rebel army kidnaps young woman, makes her political figurehead
The Town that Banished Death - Existential story ... (1/2)
#FantasyIndiesApril day 20: What words do you overuse in your writing?
A lot of filler words. Just, that, simply, etc. I'm also prone to making up a new descriptive phrase and overusing it without realizing. It's funny returning to old WIPS and seeing what phase Past Me was in.
34. Resident Evil 7
Finally overcame my motion sickness to experience a game I've been dying to play.
And... eh.
It's not a bad game, but it feels insubstantial. The gameplay is fine but basic, ditto with level design (atmosphere is good tho), the horror is nearly exclusively uninspired jump scares
#FantasyIndiesApril day 15: Preferred reading formats
Paperback, but anything is fine. I preferred hardcover when I was younger because they felt More Serious, but now find them mildly unwieldy. Just a little. I end up reading digitally for a lot of reasons, and I'm no stranger to audiobooks.
33. I am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the House
Have you seen this movie? No? Congratulations! You already know everything that happens!
This feels like what should have been someone's 5 minute YouTube film project got turned into 90 minutes of one character standing around doing nothing.
32. Resident Evil Requiem
WAIT I JUST REALIZED I NEVER PUT THIS IN THE LISTTTT
Beat it last month it's really really good ๐
The first act is some of the best content in the entire franchise. The second act is just okay and fairly bloated, but act 3 is solid. My 2nd or 3rd favorite in the franchise.
#FantasyIndiesApril day 13: MC's childhood
Corn spent his days working with his pa out on the fields and spent his nights watching his ma perform at the local corner bar. She played the harp with her hands and the drums with her feet and even occasionally sang.
He loved life.
31. Resident Evil 4 (2005)
One of the greatest games of all time, and justifiably one of the most influential as well. I definitely prefer almost everything about the remake, but this game is fantastic just the same.
#FantasyIndiesApril day 9: What do my characters take for granted?
Definitely his family and safe home life. He does love those things but hasn't properly realized that he won't have them forever.
#FantasyIndiesApril day 8: Do you reread books?
You know, not so much in recent years. I used to quite a bit. There was one particular book I would reread at least once a year. But now, the closest I do is occasionally revisiting classics I read as a child and probably didn't fully appreciate.
30. Mort (Discworld)
Yeah it just isn't for me. I understand why people would like the prose, but it doesn't land for me, and without it, it feels like a slog to get through just to reach only-okay characters and story elements. There are fun concepts, but it just isn't enough for me to soldier on.
#FantasyIndiesApril day 7: Animals in WIP
Many! From farm animals to a noble lady's posh pet dog to colonies of giant, territorial flesh-eating worms that live in the local mines, animals make up a very big part of this story. There are also animalistic monsters that could fit the category.
#FantasyIndiesApril day 6: Characters' homelands
Corentin, aka Corn, lives in the cold, mountainous Fortuis region. He starts a simple farmboy in Bail and winds up in Prescal, known for its mining and home to the Screaming Tigers mercenary guild, currently feuding with the Badlands Bandits.
#FantasyIndiesApril day 3: How do I come up with book titles?
Normally very slowly, lol. For Fowl Blade, the first few drafts were just called "Chickens with Swords" 1/2/3/etc. For The Town that Banished Death, I think I came up with the concept and title BEFORE actually writing any of it.
#FantasyIndiesApril day 2: Seasons in WIP
I've always been had at incorporating different seasons into my writing. Everything tends to be vaguely Autumn-ish, even outside the Halloween-themed stories.
