7. Animals in WIP
The fauna on Nek'tar are so ferocious that Sed's ancient ancestors survived by building dwellings high in trees, a cultural practice they still employ. The planet's oceans are no safe haven either, and Nek'tun have an ingrained fear of deep water as a result.

#FantasyIndiesApril 7 - Animals
There are innumerable wild animals in Dainu, but one of the most commonly mentioned are the nashul in and around Brachao. They're not given much of a description, but I like to imagine them as kinda wild boars. They're the main game hunted in autumn.
4/7 #FantasyIndiesApril
“Out of Oblivion” doesn’t have any animals except, arguably, sirens. They’re a weird case, since sirens aren’t natural creatures and are far more clever than most animals but still fall short of true sapience.
#fantasyindiesapril Day 7 Animals in WIP
I am a huge lover of animals and all my books have adorable pets. One of my things when I plot is always who is my main couple, and what rescue pet is going to wander into their life and be adorable and steal every scene.

07: Animals in WIP
Bloodmaster #3 features horses! Well, a horse and a mule.
Ink is Neida's steed, a very clever (but very paranoid), pitch-black mare.
Sullen is the mule Myria, er... expropriates from her previous owners.
Day 7. Animals in WIP.
In my Scooby Doo Retelling, there's a talking black bear named Knight.

Day 7 of #FantasyIndiesApril
There are lots of animals in my Oracle of Delphi series WIP: oxen, bulls, bears, goats, sheep, donkeys, horses, dogs, cats, birds, wolves, lions, dolphins, whales, fish, snakes, rats, chickens, pigs, and wild boar.

#FantasyIndiesApril 7. Animals in WIP
There are the basic earth based animals you normally see and there are magical animals. The ones we see most of are the Omnyver, a pitch black 3 headed Mastiff-like creature with a lion's body and mane, a snake like tail and talons on its feet
#FantasyIndiesApril 6. Describe your characters home/homelands
Calla was born and raised in the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles. She lives in a small detached cottage behind her parent's house, which is surrounded by a beautifully manicured and brick lined garden.

#FantasyIndiesApril -7- Demon King Daughter
Little mention of literal animals. There is a pet dog in book 3, but it's super spoilery and uh... not actually a dog, heh. Even the bestial demons shown are hinted to be above-animal intelligence, they just don't care to speak.

#FantasyIndiesApril 7:
There are many, many animals in Godswar, helped liberally by a visit to the San Diego Safari Park (fka the Wild Animal Park) that takes place just before the looming apocalypse. There's also a fair number of dogs, a crab, and at least one wolf.

The antagonistic Fairy Queen & Prince magically disguise themselves as animals; namely a dark-brown cat, magpie, black widow spider, a white hare, and a crow.
#FantasyIndiesApril Day 7: Animals in WIP. I'm missing the wolves and Ril (tiny cat who can "shift" into a full-grown tiger) in this series. So far we just have horses, most of them unnamed. Arathel's horse was stolen and Radjann's was killed in book one, but Sharrec still has Bracken.
#FantasyIndiesApril Day 7:
“Escape From Titan” is a prequel novella to “Ashes of Eden.” In it, Elysia’s friend, and business partner, Kailin, gifts her a horse.
Also, from the cover, you’ll notice another, less friendly, animal…
7) I won't say how they get introduced, but my current draft has some Owlbears and various other farm animals.

Day 7: #FantasyIndiesApril
Animals aren't a big part of Anhelos Bound. There might be a mention of Quinn's summon, Valharen, or Embree's brother's dog, Big Puppy.

There’s quite a few animals, both familiar in not, in my stories. Wirochs are commonly mentioned in TWT, though other critters are encountered by the cast in the woods outside Mosswell.

Seff loves horses, but the MCs of Prophecies see them as impersonal tools. Gallara's first horse is purple, and she names it Lavender.
#FantasyIndiesApril 7: animals in WIP
Braelyn's animal companion is a Fayhaven hawk named Teylas. He has a mix of black and amber feathers with a white & brown belly, and a gray & black beak. He is about 2 years old in "Son of Embers".

In Mielea's Lost most of the characters can shape shift into various animals, reptiles, and birds.
In Project Phoenix, Robin is an anthropomorphic Kitsune and wyvern and pegasus are common place in Asgard. #writersofbluesky #Sci-Fi #fantasy #booksky #writesky

Well, people turn into animals in my Changers series. (Pick up MANIFESTING DESTINY if you want a fun YA shifter story!)

Let's go with one I haven't talked about. Unicorns! Magical beasts of a horse with a magical horn with magic. They can be different colors. They speak telepathically with other unicorns or with their bonded human called a Unicorn Speaker

In Aloe, there's a heavy emphasis on birds, bats, and wolves. François likes to call his fledglings his songbirds.
#FantasyIndiesApril day 7: Animals in WIP
Many! From farm animals to a noble lady's posh pet dog to colonies of giant, territorial flesh-eating worms that live in the local mines, animals make up a very big part of this story. There are also animalistic monsters that could fit the category.
Fantasy Indies April with each day of the month listed with its theme. Today is the seventh, and the theme is animals in WIP.

Day 7
In the story I'm currently finishing off, there are too many people for me to have animals. Yet in the next book, there will be a pair of cats. One will be mellow and the other full of sass!

Velouris the fox is the main animal in the story. She's Caelum's familiar, the team pet, & causer of many antics.
Most of the other animals are ones warped by magic that prove hostile to the protagonists, seeing people as prey.

Animals
Galewing (a gray eagle) is featured in 3 of The Caein Legacy books. 2 other eagles show up in the forthcoming Mage War Chronicles.
Samantha (a racoon) and her kits are in The Fontayne Company duology (coming 2027, this was a shout out to @servantand.bsky.social 🦝)
#FantasyIndiesApril Animals are actually pretty rare in Niyala because there was a near-extinction event in one of the later Scaleshifter books. The land is recovering in the latest WIP, but society is marked by that time period. Most animals mentioned are aquatic.
