Democratising Design. Our 2026 theme.
This year, our theme is Democratising Design.
With democratic principles under threat, there is no better time to reflect on how those principles apply to design itself. Whether in our process, in how services operate, or in how we apply design to policy making and democracy itself.
Work in service design or digital government?

Enjoying the thought-provoking final @sdingov.bsky.social keynote - Steph Wright on AI in public services: Responsibility, realism, and public good.
“The majority of AI discourse today is framed through the lens of inevitability - but at this point not involving AI is still a choice.”
“AI isn’t taking your job, the people making the decisions are”
“Responsibility must be shared, not outsourced”
“Being able to ignore the doom and gloom is a privileged position”
“Be hopeful AND cynical”

Hi Matt, please don't take it personally! We sometimes have what appear to be gaps in the programme, but they are often because a speaker needs time to finalise details or to get sign-off. Please don't be discouraged from submitting again next year.
