New greeknotes! Greek independence day, the first cemetery of athens, and a piss up in a brewery at the 3rd annual beer festival. Also featuring aristotle's underwhelming lyceum, and once again, hotly clambering up lycabettus hill

Weeknotes 2026-03-22 TOC * The World * My Week * Media Diet * Reading * Watching * Gaming * Walking and Health and the Weather * Word Power * Links of Interest * Looking Forward ### The World * The Iran conflict enters its fourth week! Trump calls allies cowards for not helping open the Strait of Hormuz. Gas prices are terrible. Trump has given a 48-hour ultimatum to open the strait, let's see what happens when Iran doesn't do it. * RIP Chuck Norris and Nicholas Brendon ### My Week * Cleanup/Archival work: Exported old emails into a new (local) django app to make them easily searchable. A couple of hundred thousand mails reaching back to the 2000s! Also went through a bunch of old MTG draft chaff and threw out a bunch. And sorted out my clothes closet and tossed out some terrible old ones. And a bunch of other digital archival work that I don't want to discuss publicly. * More renovations happening in the house this weekend, hopefully everything is done after today. * Trivia team attended quiz night last Thursday! * On the blog: Wrote about the PlayStation 2! ### Media Diet #### Reading * Books: Hogfather (Discworld #20). Started this one back up again. At the current rate, will probably finish next week. * Comics: Still struggling to keep up, as per usual. * Feed reader backlog: Feed reader is at 169 unread items as of this writing, a bit more than the past couple of weeks, as I have been a bit remiss in keeping up. #### Watching * Started: **Invincible S4**. * Ongoing: **The Pitt S2** , **High Potential S2** , **Scrubs S10** , **Fallout S2** * Stalled: **The Simpsons S37** * Movies: No new movies again this week. #### Gaming * Regular ongoing live-service games: * **Magic Arena** : I was doing relatively well in TMNT quick draft, until I hit Diamond rank at least. After that, got hit with 0-3 after 0-3, as if the game was putting me in my place! * Single-player games: * Ongoing: **Pathfinder: Kingmaker** (Steam). * Started: **Valkyria Chronicles** on the Steam deck. This was the first PS3 game I played and finished! * Putzing Around: **One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3** on the Steam Deck still. ### Walking and Health and the Weather For the past week (Sunday to Saturday), Google Fit tells me I walked 60,952, a tiny bit more than last week. We enjoyed some chill weather at the start of the week, but the past few days have gotten really hot again. I read somewhere that the monsoon is ending, so we may be looking at an official "dry season" announcement from PAGASA soon. ### Word Power More words from the NYT Spelling Bee: * BULGUR: Parched cracked wheat * COIR: Coconut fiber * FRUG: 1960s dance craze * FROUFROU: Fussy or showy dress or ornamentation * HARICOT: A French bean * RHOTIC: Pronouncing the letter r wherever it appears ### Links of Interest Nothing this week sadly. ### Looking Forward * Daredevil Born Again season 2 drops this coming week! I'm already watching a lot, but they'll probably get bumped back for this one! * I still have yet to watch Project Hail Mary. Maybe this coming week? * Patient#1 is scheduled for one of her big regular annual tests this week, hopefully everything goes smoothly and the results end up good.

Notes for the Weeks #11—12 (2026) This week note covers the weeks of 9th–22nd March. ## Life# I skipped writing the week note last week because I got too lazy after being caught up in things I’ve been doing. So I’m writing this one to cover both weeks. Life has been hectic but good. All the usual activities continue, with some new things added. I went for a short run last week after a gap of almost 11 months. It was only 2km but it felt great to get started again. My stamina is gone completely, and I feel like I’m starting from scratch. Regardless, I’m happy to be in right mindset and health to be able to start running again. After some hesitation, I bought an entry in the Jatre run for a 5km race. I signed up for a Garmin coaching plan to prepare. Hopefully it’ll not be too much for me. Later in the year, I want to start going for 10km races again. We had some holidays last week on occasion of Ugadi and Eid. A really wanted to go to a mall (I guess A’s school taught about what malls are), so we went to a nearby one on Ugadi. It was fun to see A running around excited. Weird weather all around last week. We had a sudden cold day and hailstorm between the usual hot summer days. I heard some parts of the country experienced unexpected dust storms. This upsets me a lot. **Current daily average steps per month** : 10106 ## Personal Projects# I finally got long stretches of time to start working on my new project: writing a Co to JavaScript compiler. I got a rudimentary compiler working for a subset of Co features. Before writing the compiler, I actually reverse-engineered the Co interpreter and wrote a spec and tests so that I can make sure that the compiler works exactly same as the interpreter. My friend Steven had Claude code implement an interpreter from the spec and tests only. It took Claude only 15 minutes to do that! Well, I do my personal projects for my learning and practice, so I’m not going use LLMs to do them, but it’s amazing (and terrifying) to see what they can do now. ## IndieWebClub Bangalore# After a gap of two months, I went to an IWCB meetup yesterday. It was a tech session where all the attendants co-worked on their websites. The turnout was great, we almost ran out of seats (I expect a large digest in the upcoming newsletter). I met many interesting folks working on fun stuff. If you are interested in making your own website and/or blogging, I definitely recommend you attend one of these meetups. In the meetup, I worked on adding Fediverse support for the IWCB website using Bridgy Fed. It sort of works. But all blogroll posts are not showing up in the account somehow. I need to debug this. ## Watching# I paused watching everything and wife and I started One Piece on Netflix. Over the two weeks, we rewatched the season 1 and just now we got started with the second season. It is amazing and everyone should watch it. ## Interesting Internet Links# * Flame and Filament * A sufficiently detailed spec is code * Good Haskell Libraries That’s all for this week. You can subscribe to the feed of my week notes for updates. If you have any questions or comments, please leave a comment below. If you liked this post, please share it. Thanks for reading!

As I’m wrapping up my time on the Planning Data platform, I’ve written two case studies that cover two big pieces of work.

This was made much, much easier by documenting the work in public through #weeknotes and blog posts, another good reason to work in the open.
