How do electric cargo bikes fit with real life? A social practice analysis in the United Kingdom Cycling an e-cargo bike offers key advantages of both car and bike use, and its potential to substitute many car trips offers energy demand reduction …

My article on e-cargo biking as a social practice is now available open access online - it summarises the particular version of social practice theory I have developed over the years for understanding mobility, illustrated with 'ecb-ing' as a vaild alternative to driving, especially for families.

The stand is mostly touching the front wheel & fork so could be a hassle to lock to frame & rear wheel Also It doesn't look like it would work well for an e-cargo bike, or accessible cycle

E-cargo bike access: Total Cost of Ownership, the appeal to second car owners, and leasing | The ELEVATE Project Blog written by Dr. Noel Cass E-cargo bike access: Total Cost of Ownership, the appeal to second car owners, and leasing ...

I wrote this pre our national workshops on Financial Access to E-(cargo) bikes, thinking about Total Cost of Ownership vs cars, the second car as a particular target for replacement with such bikes, and the potential appeal of the leasing model of ownership (which is so addictive for car ownership).

How did I miss this study when it came out a few months ago? Google Scholar normally emails me about anything that even mentioned cycling. Anyway - WOW, look at the effect sizes for the benefits of active travel

Well this looks fascinating and an important contribution to transport & climate policy thinking.

NEF taking on the huge question of how to define & meet human needs for travel within planetary boundaries.

Here’s their discussion starter on sufficient & excessive transport consumption.
