(post from asimovsideburns) Klingon therapist: the battle against mental illness cannot be won decisively. It is a long campaign against an enemy who never tires, whose forces swell to twice their size whenever you look away. Battle against a foe of such magnitude, who occupies your very mind... Every moment you survive is a triumph against all odds. There is no more honorable combat

poster for the 2023 Japanese film, REVOLVER LILY
#w REVOLVER LILY, starring Haruka Ayase as the titular character, a former spy/assassin who helps an orphaned boy from being abducted by the Imperial Army in 1920s Japan. This is the best Heroic Bloodshed movie I've seen recently & thoroughly recommend it!

View of the spacecraft (bright, on the left), a dark thin crescent of Moon, and a very small, bright thin crescent of Earth next to it
"Orion, the Moon, and the Earth. EVERYONE, in that picture" - #Artemis II Mission Control.
Genuinely hilarious bit
Letterbox is the best social media app because it’s 99% finding cool new movies from friends and 1% like a Free Willy Stan gets mad at you
The #Artemis II spacecraft is now fully behind the Moon, and will be unreachable for the next 40 minutes or so. This is the expected "loss of signal." During this time, they'll reach their closest approach to the Moon (about 4067 miles) and then their greatest distance from Earth (252,756 miles).
I should rewatch Tiger on the Beat. Is it misogynistic? Yes. Does I have Chow Yun Fat blasting henchmen with his shotty using a cool trick? Yes. Does it have Conan Lee in a sick chainsaw duel? Yes. Does it have a scene that rips off the pants scene from Running Scared (1986)? Also yes.
My pitch: A Young Lwaxana series before she married Troi’s dad.
To teach his daughter some humbility, the head of the 5th house cuts Lwaxana off, forcing her to become the Nanny to space theater producer’s kids. Hilarity ensues.

‘THEY WILL KILL YOU’ debuted with 83% on Rotten Tomatoes.
• Described as a "adrenaline-pumping thrill ride" and 2026's "best action movie discovery thus far"
• Starring Zazie Beetz as a woman who must survive in a mysterious New York high-rise run by a Satanic cult of wealthy residents
Poster for "The Furious"
May 29th in the US.
I've been tracking this movie for over a year. I can't wait. First time I've been excited about going to the theater in a while.
I've seen it once and it was several years ago so I'm due for a rewatch
The Lady is the Boss is a better take on what he was doing with My Young Auntie. Both are good though
Finding his films post Shaw Brothers has been a bit more difficult but some have shown up on Shout factory and hi-yah recently. I'll be honest the only real disappointment has been Cat vs Rat.
Tiger on the Beat 2: 3.5/5 Skinny Tiger & Fatty Dragon: 4/5 The Shinjuku Love Story: 4/5 Fist of Fury: 4/5 (rewatch)

You need to dig for The Shinjuku Love Story, but this under seen 80's action film is good but forgotten.
Tiger on the Beat 2 was my 22nd Lau Kar-Leung movie out of 25 directed films.
Skinny Tiger & Fatty Dragon is fun but fight scenes carry it
Toho's miniature making reached its peak in the mid '60s. Such a diverse and intricate array of colors and details and lights. It's almost a shame to see Godzilla stomp all over it.
Almost.
