Went with the whole family this morning to see Super Mario Galaxy. I was fairly forgiving of the first film, but I’m less so for this one, which panders offensively for 98 minutes.
Lots of Easter eggs and cameos from across various Nintendo properties, but I was pretty bored throughout.

I know this is iconic. This little set-piece gets shown all the time. It makes TOTAL sense why this became a stunt show. It arguably is in the filmic version, too.
Lot of his gross fish feet. Get used to that I reckon.
It's just Aquaman, at this point. Does he talk to fish, as well?
Look at that Atlantean power. Just lifting him out of the water like Neptune, himself.

He swims & breathes underwater like, basically, #Aquaman, & moves kinda like him too when getting out, which is to say that he erupts from the water like he was shot from a cannon.
It reads as ludicrously silly onscreen, just as it does for Aquaman, imo.

This blew my mind. Joss Whedon is an uncredited script doctor for Waterworld, and also for Speed and Twister. Joss says that some scenes he can't even watch in Waterworld, because they came out so badly. A pretty bold thing for a guy who did an uncredited pass on the script to say, lol.
