It's a testament to how great this game was that, even though I haven't played it for over 40 years, I still physically flinch when the spears come across the screen on this clip. Awesome game 👍 🙂

An orange boxy character drawn in pencil, biro, marker, pastel and ink
Times are tough so I've put a load more of my children up for sale. Mixed media original drawings in pencil, biro, marker, pastel and ink on heavy craft paper. www.ebay.co.uk/usr/happytoast
40 YEARS AGO TODAY: Robin of Sherwood was killed off at the end of the second series. Luckily there is historical precedent for presenting Robin as Earl of Huntingdon, so Jason Connery turns up as his successor when Lady Marion is abducted.
A book that reads in block sans serif font, "ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE PROJECTS FOR THE COMMODORE 64." The text is red, switching to gold for the words 'Commodore 64'. Cover bottom, a Commodore 64 - a light brown all-in-one microcomputer with dark brown keys - appears. In the center, a gold PCB in the shape of a human head radiates gold wires in the way wires might radiate from a chip, creating the silhouette of a head; in the center and neck of the head-shaped PCB, chips appear.
Computer scientists believe that soon every home will be able to have their own artificial intelligence machine on their own desktops (Source.)
The cover to the book, "Writing Your Own Program: Creating A Database: Adventure Game." Each line is in its own font. The computer (a black affair with rainbow keys" depicts a scuba diver swimming, handcuffs in hand, as it is attacked by a giant cross octopus; the painted octopus is literally bursting out of the monitor. A tiny little banner in the corner states: "For Commodore 64 And Apple IIe Computers"
Man, 80s computer books made even non-relational databases look fun. (Source.)

Dear AI bros. Please stop solving "making art" and instead solve a problem I actually have: working out exactly which screw I need to buy to fix a kitchen chair.

Anyone else get genuinely excited to go to bed? Not even to sleep right away, just to get cozy, watch something, read, or scroll your phone without feeling guilty. It feels safe and comforting in the best way

Photo At a press conference on January 26, Nigel Farage embraces Suella Braverman, after her defection to Reform. Image: LEON NEAL/GETTY
There is now, at the very least, a competition between the "respectable" ex-Tories and the street populists - like Zia Yusuf and Matt Goodwin - over who will set the tone for Reform, and who are key to its outreach to the unashamed fascist plebs. The more its ethos evolves towards that of the shire Tories and ex-military types, the more it alienates the 100,000 drunk racists who followed Tommy Robinson into Whitehall last year.
“The truth is that Reform has no long-term answers for the structural, economic and geostrategic problems Britain faces. It has been, until now, held together by hate”
It cannot fix the problems we face because it’s a symptom of those problems, not a cure.

“The combined tuition fees of the entire Question Time panel would not cover my cost for 1 year of uni. Is that fair?”

It’s absolutely NOT fair. This outrageous scandal must end

ROBIN OF SHERWOOD (1984): Michael Praed was The Hooded Man in Richard Carpenter's dark ITV drama, which fully leant into the mythology of the character. Magic, demons, the supernatural, pagan myth, and Robin's Obi Wan Kenobi, Herne the Hunter, all featured. Still the best Robin Hood ever!
On this day in 1963, the Beatles taped their appearance with Morecambe & Wise. The show was broadcast on the 18th of April 1964.
Shocking article in the Sheffield Tribune. A solicitor, Andrew Milne, buying up freeholds of houses and then making (false) threats to the leaseholders to bully them into buying the freehold at a huge premium.
“It broke my heart, that was my savings towards a new car,” one woman who paid Milne tens of thousands of pounds told us. “He has just wiped me out.”
Who is Andrew Milne - the solicitor sending "very aggressive" letters to Sheffield homeowners?

Aztec Challenge
Paul Norman’s Aztec Challenge is pure tension — sprinting through spear gauntlets, dodging traps, and surviving by split-second timing, all set to an atmospheric soundtrack. Intense and unforgettable, it's an early C64 classic.
The 1984 ALIEN computer game was excellent; I played the Spectrum 48K version after I saw ALIENS in 1986 and really enjoyed it.
It couldn't do much with the graphics or the processing power of the Spectrum so it focused on stressing you out, not knowing where the creature would be. It was good.
