The reason why the mobile buttons are GIGANTIC is so you can tap the dpad with yr peripherals while focusing on the game.
Using the keyboard arrow keys on a computer is still better, but this layout it’s pretty close. I still hit the wrong direction I want on mobile, but less often with a big area.

I kinda started this project inspired by the old brick-phone snake game that came preinstalled in the late 90s-early 2000s.

I'm just building this as a web app. So, the front-end is hosted free on github.
Hosting high scores with firebase shouldn't break their free tier unless I hit 25K+ daily users. I Hiiighly doubt it! 🤣. Even if it did I have a break-point to block being charged.
So, really it don't cost me nothin'.
I think that'll just about do it for my "joy of coding" snake game.
Need to make sure it plays well on mobile then I wanna add Oooooonnnneee last thing, a public high score tracker! Then i'll share out the link.

Adding some simple sprites to my Snake game. Happy with the "munch". Works pretty well for 5x5px and 2 frames. I have the "open-mouth" sprite show when the snake is 1 block away.
There are 2 foods, apple and blueberry 🍎 🫐, and I made sure the "munch" splashes their color 💦. #indiegame #indiedev

It made me realize how retro gaming on a touchscreen is really hard. Kinda makes sense why all the mobile games had to take a new approach to "controls."
A simple D-pad isn't very intuitive on a touchscreen. You really need to feel the buttons to control things well.

Also fun to get un-confused to why they saw parts of the "earth-away-side" of the moon. I was thinking it was a straight path, so would they see that side already? But by leading the moon, they'd get an angle to see it
The reflection of the cabin light is so grounding! I love it. A subtle reminder that a human snapped the photo.
Do they have to “slow down” to get captured by the moons gravity? Like if they did nothing would they just zoom by the moon?

Need a way to clear trapped ghosts. I'm thinking some form of power-up that exposes them. And also a state where you get to control pac-man himself!
