She’s also a family friend and amazing young adult (who I’m sure would love a note from a little person trying to start a club themselves)

Awesome! You should share with her some articles about Evelyn Mills up in Fairbanks, who started a chess club up in Fairbanks at her school, then expanded it out to a ranked city-wide club. She’s a great young adult, won a Spirt of Youth award, and Chess Life mag did a comic about her.
The wildly handsome Brad Guigar (left) stands next to Dave Kellett, who is really doing his best. Thanks to the wonders of Photoshop, it looks as if the ComicLab logo is being launched from Dave's hand. It's not. That's just copy-paste. Again... raw sexuality simply oozes from Guigar. You'd think the guy would be so busy fending off amorous advances that he wouldn't have time to write alt text for Blusky posts.
The platforms we trusted to grow our audience have pulled the rug out from under us, and it’s time to take that control back. We'll explore how do do just that! comiclabpodcast.com

all the aadam jacobs recordings have been included in the @livetapes.heads.social.ap.brid.gy feed since they launched the project (or via @ajcproject.mas.to.ap.brid.gy, if you only want the AJC collection)
Congrats to my old friend Aadam Jacobs, deservingly receiving international recognition from numerous press sites for creating probably the most important live music archive of the past 30 years, simply by being Aadam.
I’m listing to a New Pornographers set from 2002, Db’s from 1984 and another from Golden Smog in ‘96. This is the best.
Until I saw it, I couldn’t imagine how long and what a marvel a 350 mile ice road is.
Kuskokwim Ice Road closes for the 2026 season
"The Kuskokwim Ice road is funded annually by the state...This year, the Kuskokwim ice road stretched one of its longest-ever paths — about 350 miles from Tuntutuliak to Crooked Creek."

One of my biggest ‘if it wasn’t for Covid’ missed opportunities was a planned invite to Metlakatla (and another in the Y-K) that summer to teach a comics class.
Can attest this is an excellent book with a perfect number of ratings.
In light of the recent news on @adn.com and @alaskabeacon.com, here’s an evergreen explainer on #rankedchoicevoting #rcv

I think this is my favorite Artemis post.
Using AI for your art references not only gives you a skewed & inaccurate view of the world, it also puts resource providers like myself & all these awesome people out of work!
Using REAL photo references is what levels up your art AND supports the stock/resource community! ❤️💪
The top half of a poster. "A Comic Convention for Juneau - Alaska Robotics Mini-Con."
Still working on the poster but if you're in Juneau, let's get May 9th on the calendar for Alaska Robotics Mini-Con. A comic convention for Juneau!
One month out!
Did an interview with the lovely Pat & Aron of @alaskarobotics.com yesterday, realizing we're definitely all rockin' the trademark PNW black shirt, beard & glasses. LOL
If you're ever pulling through Juneau, check out their shop. Not only do they have a ton of games, but comics, art & more.
Kat & Fiona Rose and a pile of other awesome folks. Fiona did the Spenaudville review all those years before Covid.
I just updated their logo and they just did a meet the band on IG. www.instagram.com/p/DW4uNgwkg4...
Parkstrippers Marching Band
If you get a chance, go check out the Parkstrippers. It’s going to be an amazing set of shows.
Yesterday, I was stuck next to a table of local elders at a coffeeshop, all complaining about high gas prices. Sad excuses for sourdoughs, real Alaskans know how to find solutions to transportation problems. (Seward Peninsula pupmobile, Carnation the moose, bear, sail-skiing).
Fellow Alaskans, in these times of high gas prices, I implore you to explore the past for solutions. History will provide! This young lady, with a bear pulling her cart in circa 1950 Alaska, had all the answers. Via Anchorage Museum. #alaskahistory #alaska
Rep. Hannan asking the contractor whose system has had "Category" misspelled for twenty years to explain why grants are late is enough fuel to keep me going for the rest of session.
Hey Anchorage, I'm popping up north and playing a house concert on Saturday April 18th!
My website is giving me trouble at the moment, but here's the direct RSVP if you want to attend. Ages 10+, pay-as-you-can:

If you didn’t hear it yet, this weeks “Switched On Pop” does a fun deep dive.
“Where is my Husband!” already made it on a playlist for a friend. switchedonpop.com/episodes/ray...
This changes most (if not all) of my Summer plans.
Kids, get in the car.
PANEL 1: The CAPTAIN reacts to ORLA’s previous demand, as ORLA turns to CUDDOW at a computer consul. CAPTAIN: Orla, WHAT ARE YOU DOIN??? ORLA: Cuddow, cut the comms, please. PANEL 2: Close up on ORLA as she explains. ORLA: I’m moving fast, Captain. THE FUTURE IS DECIDED BY THE FAST. PANEL 3: The CAPTAIN and ORLA go head to head, gesturing as they argue. CAPTAIN: We don’t know the succession plans! We don’t know ‘Nando is next! ORLA: We can solidify his claim before the Familia factions COALESCE! PANEL 4: Close up on ORLA as she gestures as she continues to explain. ORLA: It’s obvious what the Grand Council will do, if given the chance! They’ll install some narcissistic bank executive! Or a power broker! Or a tyrant! PANEL 5: Close up on ORLA as she hammers her point home. ORLA: And then every planet will retreat to their corners… …and start fighting over scraps YET AGAIN. PANEL 6: Close up on ORLA, underlit dramatically, pointing as she continues. ORLA: But we can do that THIS time! The only way we win is under a UNIFIED banner! PANEL 7: ORLA, mouth open wide in excitement, points to NANDO who stands waving, eyes wide, looking terrified. ORLA: Captain, I todl you once I knew how to win this war. And it’s ‘Nando! ‘NANDO IS HOW WE WIN THIS WAR! NANDO: QUICK COUNTERPOINT: He’s totally not. ——- Want to read the full story? Dear UA Community, Eligible UA staff employees voted over the last two weeks on whether to form an employee union. Voting concluded yesterday, and the votes were counted today. Votes in favor of unionization prevailed 1,106-610 with 1,716 eligible voters (about 75% of those eligible) casting ballots. Barring objections or other challenges, the outcome will be certified on Wednesday, April 8. UA respects the outcome of this election and the right of staff to organize. We will continue to make decisions that are in the best long-term financial interest of the University and our mission, and look forward to negotiating in good faith and in accordance with Alaska labor law. In the short term, here is what employees need to know about what happens next: For CAUSE-represented employees: Employees eligible to vote in the election are now officially represented by CAUSE, and the union is their exclusive representative for wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment. Those employees are no longer eligible to participate in the Staff Council or the Staff Alliance, and officers currently serving in those bodies who are now covered by the bargaining unit will need to resign from their positions. The University will respect the "dynamic status quo" during this transition period and bargaining. This means that existing wages, hours, and working conditions will remain in place while a first contract is negotiated and agreed upon. It does not mean the University will stop making operational and fiscal decisions; management retains its authority to run the institution. Represented staff employees' wages will remain at current rates until a collective bargaining agreement is reached. Alaska Labor Law and UA Policy require that a contract be in place for members of a collective bargaining unit to receive a raise. Since there is no contract yet in place for CAUSE, employees now represented by that bargaining unit are not eligible for th…
