4️⃣ Prototyping AI? Tinker and user test.

🛠️ Effective AI design demands traditional user-focused testing AND hands-on technical experimentation (models, data, etc.).

In the probabilistic AI realm, bridging these worlds is key. #UX #AI #Prototyping #ProductDesign

3️⃣ Synthetic User Research: AI simulating group interactions?

🤔 Yes! While still emerging, Stanford AI simulations can already model group dynamics, offering a new way to augment traditional user research, especially for collaborative products. #AI #UX #UserResearch #NetworkEffects

2️⃣ Human/AI Control: It's not a binary choice.

🎚️ Forget simple sliders. A 2-axis grid (Human Control vs. Automation) helps find the sweet spot for your specific audience and context.

Think collaboration & smooth handoffs. #AIStrategy #ProductManagement

1️⃣ AI Agent Personality: Competence is complicated!

🤯 Stanford research showed **low-competence** social signals can sometimes boost adoption & usability.
Don’t always try to be the smartest AI in the room.

The effort paradox in AI design Why making things too easy can backfire

New in @UXCollective: The Effort Paradox in AI Design

When making things *too* easy can backfire.

Why do IKEA customers value furniture they assemble themselves? And what does this tell us about designing AI products?

Cremaster Cycle Trailer
Cremaster Cycle Trailer YouTube video by Celluloiddreams

Mini revelation: That odd overall vibe that pervades AI-generated art... that thing that you cant quite put your finger on…

It's the same vibe that Matthew Barney (Cremaster Cycle, etc.) work emanated decades ago. #ai #aiart youtu.be/6xWtS9HsP4U

The little details make all the difference.

I adore Claude for using an animated butthole-pucker to say, “I’m diligently working on something.”

Classic usability blooper here: If you DON'T want to cancel, you need to tap "Cancel."

Easily fixable though with less ambiguous labels. Like: [Yes, cancel draft] [No, keep draft]

It's pretty hard to make the adjective "selfish" stick to Craig Newmark. He was offered so many times to turn craigslist into a $$$ machine... It could have made him $100s of millions but he refused to sell out and kept it strictly noncommercial for community benefit. Few in tech are less selfish...
