But, before ruling it out entirely, you could wait and see our final participating agents list. If there are enough new agents who haven't yet seen your pitch or your query, it might end up worth it.
While we have different agents each year, we also have many returning agents. If you pitch the same story, it's likely the same agents will like it, so you might not get the best value out of the event. So, while there's no rule against it, I wouldn't recommend pitching the same story.
#KidLitChat I like events that push me and friends forward in our writing so much that I created this pitch event several years ago. And we're gearing up for another round now!
I'm not leading it now. @nemacocy.bsky.social leads so well, but I am assisting.

It's been a long time coming. Canadian independent bookstores have banded together to create an online book buying source so you can avoid the behemoth in the room. (Here are the titles published by CMU Press, which I run.)

Yes, for unagented authors with a query-ready manuscript. Last year, as well as agents, we had editors from small presses reviewing the pitches, and we hope to have many of those agents and editors returning again this year.

The first time Charlie Chaplin used his voice in a film, he wielded it to forcefully condemn the rising forces of fascism around the globe.
Will we listen to his words today?
Please add me as well, thanks!
Good luck!
Happy to hear your group is working well!
Ah! Sorry - I think the link got cut off. This should be the full link: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
Lori - sorry about the confusion. I think there might have been an issue with the link to the critique groups (which are closed) vs. following for email updates. For that form, please try here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F... (We've also updated the document to remove that confusion. Thanks!)
Fantastic!
Text warning about an April 2 tariff: With this April 2 tariff, Canadian booksellers and publishers will face unsustainable new costs and customers will be faced with book prices beyond what they are willing to pay. Most books will be subject to the new tariff because they are warehoused in the US by publishers and distributors. Books have both US and CAD prices printed on the cover, making it difficult to increase prices to cover the tariff. Alternatively, charging the CAD cover-price and absorbing the 25% tariff (even short term) will bury many independents because the industry survives on an already small margin of profit. The tariff is detrimental to Canadian booksellers and publishers and will result in long-term negative effects to our literary community.
Canadians! ๐จ๐ฆ Book industry needs your help (incl. for ๐จ๐ฆ book creators like me, whose books are published and/or warehoused in U.S.).
