'(When/if there are) flashing lights on the side of the road...'
Example of the Khmer love of alliteration in an injunction to slow to 40 when emergency lights are flashing on the side of the road: แแพแแแแแแบแแแแพแแแแแนแแแแแแแแ แแถแแแแแผแแแ [kสฐษคฬหษฒ bฬฅลญษฬฏฬnฬช.หlษฏห pสฐlษคฬหล pสฐlษฏpฬ pสฐlษฬหtฬชฬ nษฏสฬฏ tอกษiษฬฏj pสฐlษคสฬฏ tฬชeห]
The above blazon and its origin and meaning are available here: www.heraldry-wiki.com/wiki/Launces...
Crest: On a Wreath of the Colours, a branch of Gum Tree leaved proper, thereon a Yellow Wattle Bird holding in the beak a sprig of the same also proper.
Supporters: Two Tasmanian Tigers [Thylacines] proper, gorged and chained Azure.
Motto: 'Progress with Prudence'
Arms of Launceston, Tasmania
Blazon:
Arms: Or, on a Pall reversed Azure a Bezant in centre point and an Ingot of Tin proper on each of the lower limbs, on a Chief indented Vert three Waratah Flowers stalked and leaved also proper.
(See picture I took in town today of the painted arms)

Itโs worse than that: they used <๐> /ส/ instead of <๐ก>!
Whoa! And manโฆthatโs disappointing :(

Found a Norfolk Island centenary coin (one of only a few Iโve ever seen). This is one of my favorite designs.
#langsky I was recently interviewed by a professor of translation studies, and the interview has just been published in an outlet for his discipline. Check it out: hopscotchtranslation.com/2025/04/22/s...

Yes, the voiced initial is restricted to function words
And for me, THIN [ฮธษชฬหn] versus THEN [รฐษชฬหn]

Thanks. I tried that, and it installed, but it doesnโt seem to work for me. (I restarted the phone, too.)
Bummer :( Why is Apple like this?
Iโm able to see them on my Mac by adding the Noto Sans Anatolian Hieroglyph font. Is there no way to add that font to my iPhone?
#langsky
Can anyone help me figure out to how to get Unicode Anatolian hieroglyphs to display on my iPhone?

Sorry, I meant a comparison of <๐๐ > vs. <๐ > after <๐> (not <๐๐๐ > vs. <๐๐ > in general). W/ regard to latter, I think itโs just a lack of standardization; the former likely has the same reason, but if itโs consistent, I could be persuaded otherwise. (Is <๐๐๐ > in โUniversityโ added to your database)
Yes, but have you looked at the use of <๐๐๐ > vs. <๐๐ > in other words? I havenโt, but if thereโs a trend to one another on the basis of coda voicing, it might suggest the scribe was affected by that in his choice of transcription.
