I know I'm late to this one, but if you missed it in theaters, #Scarlet is now available on digital, and will be on physical media next month. I wouldn't call it the best animated film from last year, but I'd still comfortably recommend it!

Enjoy a brand new episode of Renegade Animation! This time, @camseyeview.biz, @crazylemur.bsky.social, and I share our thoughts on The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and the absurd media literacy discourse surrounding it!
I didn't realize just how much I'd enjoy Bob Odenkirk's everyman action hero archetype, but he nailed it again in #Normal! Director Ben Wheatley and writer Derek Kolstad pitch a premise that's perfectly suited for TIFF's Midnight Madness crowd! Go see it!
Despite some cool practical effects and an incredible child performance, I ultimately found #TheMummy to be disappointing. Lee Cronin is still a very talented filmmaker, and I will always support whatever he does, this one just didn't work, and that's ok.
So here's the thing about Scrubs Season 10: it's great! Bill Lawrence couldn't be fully involved, because he's already stretched way too thin on three other shows, but he left this one in good hands, and that's why it's one of the best revivals I've seen to date.
I don't want to oversell this movie, but if you've been starving to see a romcom in theaters, then I can comfortably recommend #YouMeandTuscany! If nothing else, this has the necessary ingredient that is excellent romantic chemistry between our two leads.
I can't remember the last time a movie genuinely succeeded at making me this uncomfortable. For that reason, and also the incredible performances across the board, I can't call #TheDrama a bad movie per se, but I also didn't enjoy sitting in discomfort.
Always a pleasure collaborating with you!
Sorry for the lateness of this episode. In this one, we cover the Oscars, NYCIFF, Pixar’s Hoppers, and Pixar’s Boy’s Club problem that is hurting the studio and its creators. #animation #oscars #animationsky #pixar #hoppers #nyicff #movies
Enjoy brand new episodes of Renegade Animation this weekend! This time, @camseyeview.biz, @crazylemur.bsky.social, and I cover a lot of ground, between reacting to this year's Oscars, reviewing Pixar's Hoppers, and having an honest discussion about the culture behind the scenes!
This review is a week late, but just in case you need a little extra convincing, there's a scene in which Zazie Beetz lights an axe on fire and goes to town on a room full of red shirts. If #TheyWillKillYou is still playing in theaters, run, don't walk!
I will have so much more to say on the next Renegade Animation podcast, but for now: I largely enjoyed #TheSuperMarioGalaxyMovie, despite its narrative shortcomings. The animation is great, the music is a genuine improvement from the first film. Star Fox! (not a spoiler that he's in the movie)
Want to hear is discuss the previous seasonal anime drop? This is the podcast for you. I generally take the reins but it was a solid seasonal drop of anime!
Enjoy a brand new episode of Renegade Animation! If you're feeling burnt out over what feels like an endless cascade of anime, then you might want to hear what @camseyeview.biz, @crazylemur.bsky.social, and I have to say about the current state of the industry!
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is not better than the first movie, but a lot of what I liked about the original has carried over into the sequel. What helped this stand out are the new additions to the cast, especially Kathryn Newton and Sarah Michelle Geller!
It's not quite my #1 film of the year, but #ProjectHailMary is still quite a feat of filmmaking from a pair of directors who've been absent from the director's chair since 2014! Rocky and Grace are friendship goals, and great use of practical effects!
I’ve been bedridden pretty much all day, which sucks, but I still wanna take a second to wish some of the most important people in my life a happy International Women’s Day!
Scream is like pizza, even the worst slice is still exactly what it is. I enjoyed #Scream7 just enough because of how much I love Scream, but it just wasn't good enough to justify all the behind the scenes nonsense that led us here.
So, I don't do star ratings anymore, but back when I did, #TheBride would have been a classic 4.5/5! I commend the fuck out of writer and director Maggie Gyllenhaal for her unwavering commitment to throwing caution to the wind, which extends to the cast.
I knew I was going to love #Hoppers based on what I've heard from early reactions, but I wasn't prepared for how much I'd fall head over heels for it! With its strong environmental advocacy, it makes me wonder what Ted Turner thought of the movie. See it!
Bart Layton is back after 8 years with his new directorial effort #Crime101! I went into this movie without any real expectations, and came out pleasantly surprised. It has a great cast, led by Chris Hemsworth and one of Halle Berry's best performances.
And this is why it's openly okay to condemn and ridicule bad animation fans, because when you turn to harassing creators and making them never want to touch their creation again, then you aren't a fan, you are a shitty weird parasocial brat who doesn't deserve to participate in anything.
And just to add insult to injury, apparently this has been in development since the mid-2000's.
Don't believe the anti-hype of the film's 0% approval rating on the tomatometer, Psycho Killer is neither good enough to amass a cult following, nor bad enough that the studio needed to hold the review embargo until AFTER it opened to the public.
I am apparently diving head-first into shark-infested waters by sharing this review for #WutheringHeights, a movie that will inevitably piss off everyone for a variety of reasons. Despite my initial kicking and screaming, I did end up enjoying it!
Sony Pictures Animation has another hit on their hands with #GOAT! While the story itself follows the sports movie playbook to a tee, everything around it is top shelf, from the voice acting, to the animation, and a phenomenal soundtrack! Recommended!
Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die might just be the most important movie of the year? I know that sounds hyperbolic, but if you're a fan of Gore Verbinksi and have missed his authorial voice on the big screen, then I'd advise you to seek this out ASAP!
Let me hear your Muppet hot takes, but with some ground rules:
1. No mention of Kermit, because that topic's been beaten to death.
2. Try to keep it positive, if possible.
Now, what do you got for me?
In this episode, we talk about the last of the Oscar-nominated animated features, and then we dive into the current state of indie animation and we also link a few indie pilots more folks should check out.
