I decided to give Mastodon a second go. I used it a lot before I jumped onto Bluesky. I'll keep on using both and I'm not going anywhere.
I recently changed from one Mastodon instance to another, mainly because I was worried about its future in terms of monetization, but I wasn't willing to pay up
I love it when every language seems to have some incredibly dumb things in it. I've studied Finnish, English, Swedish, German, French, a bit of Ukrainian and slowly getting into Spanish.
Every language has had its moments of "Who the fuck thought this was a good idea?!"

What are your thoughts on a two-tier EU? They're apparently thinking about it currently. It would make it easier for countries to apply, but they'd have less rights than "normal" members. I think it sounds good on paper
Here's a nifty short video that talks about it:

How is it that the leading operating system makers make the ugliest, most bloated start menu there is?
With the latest update it effectictively covers most of the screen vertically with enormous padding all over the place, barely fitting any information on it? Gross.
Thank god there is Linux.
When you like Xbox and hate Windows, and then they pull the rug from underneath and say that their handheld is Windows and their next console will be too.
So glad I bought a Steam Deck and I'll see if I'll pick up a Steam Machine as well. Or just install Linux on a desktop PC.
Can't stand win11.
I find it funny how the US can easily dispatch their Black Ops and take a hold of the Venezuelan dictator in a blink of an eye, but can't do shit about Russia and its dictator Putin waging a war against an innocent country for multiple years now.
This is actually one of the main reasons I've never been interested in Sony's catalogue of games since they're mostly just 3rd person.
Not for me, thank you.
So glad that Indiana Jones was first person instead. Thank you Machine Games!
I don't really get the popularity of 3rd person cameras in videogames.
I personally find it extremely annoying to see the characters shoulders blocking the screen and would much prefer to have better immersion by NOT seeing the character I am playing as, but become them.
3rd person is a turn-off.
Honestly if they just bit the bullet and took it down to 5-7โฌ/mo, I'd prolly just leave it on for years just like I have with Amazon Prime... Oh well, adblock it is.
Sadly adblock doesn't work on the mobile app which is a bummer. And I'm not interested in 3rd party apps.
I wish Google would understand that the reason most people will never subscribe to YouTube Premium is the pricing.
15โฌ/mo is completely outrageous when I pay half of that (7โฌ/mo) for Amazon Prime Video to see unlimited amounts of movies and series PLUS I get free games on top of that...
Robbery.
Proton #VPN 's got no right to be as good as it is.
When I saw their free tier, I was thinking to myself:
"what's the catch?!"
Apparently there is no catch and it's just that good.
No ads? No bandwidth limits? No logging or tracking? Not awfully slow? Opensource?
Witchcraft.
Or just #ProtonVPN
It was a real missed opportunity to not mention the phrase
"allow me to break the ice"
during the Stubb and Trump icebreaker discussions

During these years I've played Fortnite, Valorant, Apex Legends, PUBG, Overwatch 2, League of Legends, Smite 2, Deadlock and possibly some other online PVP games.
Out of all these Apex Legends has stuck with me the most.
4 years ago I stopped playing Dota 2. I said I'd never return and sold most of my immortals and other items.
Here I am, having just installed Dota and re-buying some of the immortals that I said.
Never say never. It was a long hiatus, but sometimes you just burn out on a videogame

Awesome! Which distro did you go with? Have you been enjoying it?

Still trying to figure out a project idea for my first Go app.
I've been stuck in the classic "tutorial hell" instead of actually building stuff.
At first I thought of making a CLI weather app, but I wasn't impressed by global weather APIs out there.
They're just not accurate enough

Actually ended up installing Linux Mint on my older desktop PC. It wasn't eligible for Windows 11 due to its processor and lacking a TPM module.
I wonder how many people just jumped ship...
I still have win11 on my main gaming PC. Anticheat is the biggest reason, sigh ๐

Haven't really travelled all the much during my summer vacation, but I am planning a trip to another city for a few days.
The thing is, summer's hot as is so there's no need to travel abroad and other vacations just aren't long enough that you'd have that many days left after a trip... ๐คทโโ๏ธ
The Steam Deck has really made me focus on my ever growing backlog of unplayed games.
Currently playing through Black Mesa.
Both the handheld and the game are highly recommended!

And I'm not interested in the Switch 2 at all.
I have a Switch 1 and I've barely even used it to be honest.
I'm just not into buying expensive exclusives. I mainly want to hoard heavily discounted games on Steam and Xbox and enjoy older titles that came out like 10 years ago or something.
Not gonna lie, but after the leaks of the #Xbox handheld getting delayed and Microsoft concentrating their efforts into Windows 11 handhelds, it's made me consider getting a #SteamDeck by #Valve.
I love my Series X, but I'm not waiting for many years for a handheld to pop up at this point.
I know Charm's Bubble Tea is a more advanced framework (compared to their smaller stuff that I listed), but I'm not sure if I'd be ready for the Model-Update-View thing yet.
All due in time. Those smaller ones looked pretty plug and play (gum, huh and lipgloss)
Thanks! I'll definitely give it a look and possibly add that to my todo-list since I haven't had a chance to look at scraper libraries yet (I know Python had BeautifulSoup).
Cheers!
First I'm going through all the basic concepts and glancing over the standard library.
Then I'm going to pick up the Cobra CLI framework, then some handy stuff by @charm.sh :
Lipgloss, Gum and Huh?
As a total coder beginner who's interested in making CLI tools like scrapers, this should be good?
I was learning #Python many years ago, but somehow lacked the proper motivation to keep on going so I never built anything concrete.
Now that I started learning #Google 's #Go ( #Golang ), I've been thoroughly enjoying the learning experience and have already setup a learning plan going forward.

@mergedroid.com I sincerely believe that we'll enjoy the benefits of both platforms.
I like both operating systems as is, but there are some stuff I'd love to see come from the Android side like the ability to change the default browser (clicking on links behavior).
