I could be down for this—people who speed in automobiles or mopeds pay, and the money goes to pedestrians, cyclists, and responsible motor vehicle operators 😛

Tax law scholar Lawrence Zelenak observes, “April 15 can and should be as important a civic holiday as the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Together, the two days celebrate the fulfillment of the two great responsibilities of citizenship.”

The filing of the income tax return offers an opportunity to mark this achievement. Riffing on Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.’s famous quip, “I like to pay taxes. With them I buy civilization,” Zelenak calls for greater recognition of how filing an income tax return constitutes a “Purchase-of-Civilization Ceremony.”

Happy tax day! This should be a civic holiday, we should have a parade and give out taxpayer awards.

I've been in Boston about 10 years now and @wutrain.bsky.social was elected as a progressive who would bring needed change and she made a great start with the #BostonSafetySurge

Then after running reelection in a landslide, she's just decided to quit. I'm so confused why she has abandoned us 😔

The hungry red panda at the Prospect Park Zoo? Adorable.

The HungryPanda delivery app scamming small businesses? Not adorable. So they will be paying $580,000 back.

We'll keep pursuing companies that take advantage of New Yorkers, and we'll keep asking if we can pet a red panda just for a second.

Internal City Hall Polling Reveals Broad Support for Bike Projects, Blue Hill Ave. Bus Rapid Transit - Streetsblog Massachusetts StreetsblogMASS has obtained internal City of Boston polling results that show a strong majority of city residents support the proposed Blue Hill Avenue bus transitway project, and that a plurality of residents support bike lane projects, even when it comes at the expense of car lanes and on-street parking.

As it turns out, @mayorwu.boston.gov possessed more robust polling data that debunked those claims. There is, in fact, broad support for bike and bus lanes among Boston residents.

We're now making that polling data public for the first time. Read it here:

I love that people from Massachusetts created the most generous, socialist health care system in all 50 states while also being the most aggressive drivers. They’re like “I want my neighbors to have the best care. They’re gonna need it if they don’t get out of the left lane.”

As parents age, their children face hard choices about when to take the car keys States have many policies to stop risky older drivers from renewing their licenses. But in practice, it's often adult children who must decide when to take the car keys away from an aging parent.

Articles like this always frame taking the keys away as a personal family tragedy. It’s actually a systemic infrastructure failure. We've built a society where losing a driver's license means losing your entire independence and connection to the world. It shouldn't be this way.

Becoming “obsessed” with Covid in late Jan/early Feb 2020 is not “before the rest of the world” — unless you believe the only country in the world that matters is the U.S.

Literally billions of people knew then. Claiming GENIUS for simply watching news from Asia is peak white American superiority.

Especially after the stonewalling from @mayorwu.boston.gov @wutrain.bsky.social lately, and fighting for safer intersections in @cambridgemass.bsky.social's plans, it is such a breath of fresh air to be able to look over a street redesign like 😃🤩

Bus lanes on Blue Hill Avenue still make sense - The Boston Globe Views are split in Mattapan about the long-discussed project. Now the city needs to decide who it’s going to disappoint.

This is a great summary by the @bostonglobe.com on why @mayorwu.boston.gov must support the Blue Hill Av center running bus lanes that @ayannapressley.bsky.social worked so hard to get funded

Mattapan deserves a modern, safe, efficient, green transit corridor
