π² Intrigued by this line in the SNP manifesto - is it worth repairing a bike if the roads aren't safe to cycle on? Also note they are matching Labour's pothole fund. I wonder where that money is coming from. Hoping real nerds like @spokes.org.uk can find out!

"Today almost no one under 40 buys print.β But how else will you know what you didn't know you needed to know? Newspapers and magazines are magic - they give you peripheral vision. I feel increasingly eccentric with my weekend stack. It is a hill I will die on. β€οΈπ°

In the last session of the Scottish Parliament we secured a:

A ban on snares
But thereβs more to do.

Circular offshore salmon pens and service boats; headline notes salmon farms criticised over animal welfare.
π΄NEW: A UK government watchdog has named two salmon farms in Scotland which have been reprimanded on animal welfare, following an appeal by The Ferret.
Our latest: www.theferret.scot/salmon-farms-rapped-over...
Latest example: podcast hosted by former Tory & SNP SpAds frames question in terms of North Sea drilling, which weirdly the FM doesn't use as an opportunity to double down on Scotland's renewables advantage... www.scotsman.com/news/politic...
No surprise Holyrood Sources asked about more oil and gas rather than renewables but the FM's response is still a disappointment. "Climate compatibility tests" for new drilling were already silly, but to suggest the Iran war makes Rosebank more attractive... π€¦ββοΈ www.scotsman.com/news/politic...

A quick check and looks like 38 horses have died while being raced at Musselburgh in the last ten years. Strange that this aspect of the business is never mentioned in their PR. ππ΄
πΎ We need you to show MSP candidates that Scots care deeply about animals.

Falconry was never threatened. The suffering of rare mountain hares is being permitted once more in the name of a human tradition or sport - an appalling lack of ethics. And that UNESCO reference is inaccurate.

No. Animal suffering matters as much. We are all sentient and deserve good lives, good deaths.

Banning greyhound racing also enjoys overwhelming public support but these are two very different pieces of legislation, Neil. I interpret your comment as you think the suffering of animals is not a priority. I hope that's not the case!
