New Zealand has just become the first country in the world to weaken the climate action targets that it had set in law. They’ve done this to allow the intensive livestock industry to pollute the climate even more without having to pay for the damage they’re doing to the planet.

Vraiment formidable! Paris offers more than just a success story—it’s a blueprint. The lesson is clear: change is possible when policy, infrastructure, AND public space all point in the same direction. Cities [can] design environments where cycling's the fastest, safest, most enjoyable travel mode.
“The transformation is astonishing. [Paris] has quietly—& quickly—become one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world. What started as a series of emergency “coronapistes” or pop-up bike lanes, built during the pandemic has evolved into a permanent bike network spanning hundreds of kilometres.”
The head of transport at the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit: “Not only will this result in more CO2 being emitted in the midst of a climate crisis, it will hit the UK’s drivers in their wallets.”
"A number of studies have found that PHEV drivers do not reliably charge their vehicles."
Explains why you see various accounts online pushing PHEVs as a "better" option than BEVs.
Why have green spaces and room for pedestrians when you can have asphalt and deadly weapons moving at 80 MPH?
We're now deporting babies, U.S. citizens, and disappearing people into foreign torture centers without due process. Oh, and I just heard on The Daily that deportations are DOWN under Trump compared to Biden.
This is what you get when you vote for today's Republican party.
“If we lose the federal funding to build it, it will never be built and everyone will be stuck in traffic or walking. And Charleston, the area has 100,000 homes approved and a quarter million people are expected to move here."
I hope Charleston does the right thing. www.msn.com/en-us/urban-...
Solar generated 11% of EU electricity in 2024, overtaking coal which fell below 10% for the first time, according to @ember-energy.org EU gas generation declined for the fifth year in a row, and total fossil generation fell to a historic low.

He wants to "drill baby drill" when we need to be doing precisely the opposite.
Pretty sad. He says he wants the U.S. to succeed and then does the opposite of what success requires.
Pretty of excellent non-Tesla EVs available today, even in the U.S., which continues to keep affordable Chinese EVs off the market.
Trying to eliminate EVs is a rather strange move from a president who supposedly wants to bring back manufacturing jobs.
EVs are the future and other countries know that, so that's what they'll demand. Without EVs, the U.S. auto industry will have very few exports in the near future.
Donald Trump has pulled the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement (again). A shameful day for transit advocates and the world more broadly.
Nope, but that's crazy
Unfortunately no. I saw that account but actually created this account before I saw it.
A real gut punch.
This is an unnatural disaster.
As the climate crisis escalates, the interdependent atmospheric, oceanic & ecological systems that constrain human civilization will lead to compounding & regime-shifting changes that are difficult to predict in advance.
The LA fires are a heartbreaking example.

My deepest sympathies to those affected by the wildfires.
I'm hoping *this* the time for a climate reckoning. Pretty, pretty please?
“It’s not just the loss of life or property that people mourn. Survivors of wildfires can suffer a collective sense of loss from damage to the natural environment […].”
The railways really does take cars off the roads.

This is so cool! How far can you go in 1-8 hours by train from anywhere in Europe! (Powered by #OSM)

My previous apartment had a metro stop about a five minute walk away.
The problem? I only lived there for about a year, and it was being rebuilt the whole time. I really wish I had been there for the reopening. 😕

I love public transit.
Saw this on Threads, but I couldn't agree more.
Hanging out downtown today. While I don't have a metro stop very close to me, I greatly appreciate having it as an option to get around. Makes life so much easier.
