Go throw your TV set away,
And in its place you can install
A lovely bookshelf on the wall.
Then fill the shelves with lots of books.”

The best excuse I hear is, "I don't know what to say."
This is where you, author, can help your reader.
Ask for one sentence. Ask the reader to mention their favorite scene/character. Ask why they did/n't like your book/style/characters.
Don't be shy. Just do it.

An elevator pitch is a brief (think 30 seconds) way of introducing yourself, getting across a key point or two, and making a connection with someone.

Author, are you making the most of your email signature?
Hyperlink your website and your book.
You may want to add your logo.
Don't miss the opportunity to advertise and redirect.
What should an author post for content on social platforms?
It really can't be about your book all the time.
A quick search will offer many ideas: beyond holidays, current events, a limited scope of personal info, etc.
An example of measurable results on social media is if your followers respond to your content.
Insights and analytics will give you an idea of what's working and what's not with your content.
When should you ask for a book review?
Often.
Regularly.
If they mention they've read it or will read it.
Did you give a virtual presentation? Ask then.
Your reader may love your book but may not think how a review may benefit you, the author. Ask for reviews.
Don't be shy. Just do it.
