War Widow She sits at the small window through the night, a candle casts light on her unread book she keeps her tired eyes on the road he took, feeble stars, absent moon, there’s little light. Much the same as when he went off to fight. Then every evening, sitting here to look has emptied her soul, each cranny and nook, she fears she could die without any sight. To fight their wars they need your compliance to blindly follow their vital command, sacrifice is all the people have known.
