this consciously anachronistic translation really makes the social aspects of the poem come to life, as if any of us Peasants needed the help in these Final Days

Two archaeologists stand in a trench looking at an unearthed, fossilised, time machine and a tyrannosaurus skull in whose jaws is a human skeleton holding an aerosol can. One says: “These fossils would appear to suggest that, while Professor Cooper's time machine was a great success, his dinosaur repellent formula was not.”

Now to the gate of my Jerusalem,
The seething holy city of my heart,
The saviour comes. But will I welcome him?

Elanor, Sam Gamgee's daughter, will play a key role in the Lord of the Rings sequel that Stephen Colbert is writing. Here's what you need to know about her.
At the top, the words: "A Bardic Experiment" In the middle, an illustration of a medieval goat playing a lute. Underneath the medieval goat are the words: POEMS ALOUD Use the hashtag #PoemsAloud Share your own audio or video poems!
Calling all troubadours!
An idea.
Post your audio poems. Tag them #PoemsAloud so they're easy to find & share.
That's the idea. 🥳
Why?
#PoemsAloud syncs perfectly w/ #PoemsAbout or can stand on its own.
Some poems live beyond the page.
I recorded a bunch & don't know what else to do w/ them 🤷♀️

This is 2 minutes worth your time. @malcolmguite.bsky.social on some deep wisdom for our cultural moment from LOTR!
"I'd like to point out that I hit a two-run homer earlier in the SAME GAME. We wouldn’t have been in a position to win if it weren’t for me. But I guess there wasn’t enough space to include that information anywhere in your dumb poem’s one million shitty stanzas."
The poem was published by The Brazen Head; here's the link that includes the text version of the poem:

People who read a lot will recognize title of famous works without having read them, since they're so often alluded to in other books. So the whole argument boiled down to "People who recognize genre fiction titles but not canonical book titles may be uh ... less well read anf sensutive."
It's professional -- I paid a voice actor to do it.
I am, alas, a poet and not a true bard!
(So kudos should include Harry Frost, who did the voice and programmed the sound effects.)
One of the sillier arguments claims that literary fiction (but not genre fiction like SF) improves empathy.
I reviewed one of the authors of that argument's articles for a journal, & their measurement of "reading lots of literary fiction" was recognizing the titles of canonical works in a list.
I have a doctorate in Tolkien studies and theology, I can’t save your life but I can talk to you about Hobbits until death seems preferable anyway

"'Perfection' Gawain may have been given as a standard to strive for (for with no less ideal could he achieve a near- perfection), but he himself is not presented as a mathematical allegory, but as a man, an individual human being." - Tolkien, "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight"
