Right?!? I feel the same way. There are always omissions & puzzling choices when it comes to the Oscars, and these felt especially egregious.
I loved both Nickel Boys & Sing Sing so much. I really wish they were represented in the Best Director category, and that Sing Sing was in the running for Best Picture. I’m still thinking about both of them…

Better Man is an example of the kinds of big, creative swings that excite me in filmmaking. Amazing CGI used as a narrative and character-building tool that adds to the emotional depth of the story, instead of distancing us from it. A bold, flashy, poignant exploration of fame and grief.
