They do know that someone else already has the rights for Robocod, right? :D

I am not in the curry house... but my own home-cooked efforts are a decent substitute! π
Okay, so even the most zealous anti-AI campaigners should be supporting this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDpo...
God dammit now I'm hungry for curry and it's only just gone 8:00am...
Kudos to @debugmag.com for giving the #selfpublished #indiegamedevs the spotlight!
Love it!
... but then you knew I would!
Congratulations @grassomaniac.bsky.social on his affiliate anniversary, and also his publicly admitting he is "Greg"... :D :D :D
Latest game launched (2024): sunk into oblivion.
First game launched: still getting attention: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhPP...
I launched The Curse of Bolda in 1995 on the Atari ST. A puzzle platformer, it ended running a bit slow but I was still proud of it - and I still am!
In order to not use day-job leave while looking after my kids this Easter, today looked like this:
Get up 6am, start day-job at 6:30, brekkie with kids 8:45, work until 1pm, lunch then with kids in the afternoon/evening.
Don't think there'll be any gamedev until the weekend!

This could be huge.
#Mobilegaming would be hosed - no bad thing, IMHO!
And it could create some interesting gaps in the AAA sector - which hopefully some of the "indie-in-name-only" games could fill, leaving some room for actual #indiegames in the indie sector...
Quote of the afternoon:
"It's working1? Why is it working?!? It shouldn't be working - I don't understand..." π€£π€£π€£
Decided that instead of trying to refactor all that old code to handle variable frame rates, it would be a better bet to try writing new base classes designed to allow the game classes to lift-n-shift (as close as possible) onto them.
Thanks @embershadow.bsky.social for the co-work discord hangout!
Anyone who has found there way here and expressed an interest in doing the art, I've put together a thread with more info:
bsky.app/profile/ryok...
In both cases, I'm looking to take the graphics up to a more modern hand drawn style, switch over to skeletal animation, add more depth to the environments (paralax layers in Curse of Bolda, improve on the "bricks only" look of Kev's), better game support screens, UI, etc...
There's two games I'm looking, with a possibility of a the third in the series that I never got finished. All of them feature my mascot character "Kev".
Youtube vids of the original ST version:
Kev's World: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSmA...
The Curse of Bolda: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqLB...
If you're still interested, then reply with links to some examples of your work - doesn't need to be a formal portfolio, I just want to see what your style is and whether it meshes with the games.
So there's no money involved and no real intention to make money - although I'm happy to formalise things so that returns are shared should anything gain traction.
Yup, it's a rev-share and just for fun. If you're looking for a guaranteed return - sorry, not the project for you! π

Never expected interest in a half-joking post about remastering my old games! But I've had a few replies, so here's some info.
First: if this happens, it'll be for shits-n-giggles - I'm a broke solodev! So out of respect for artists (and I love you guys), I wanted to get that out there...
Oh, that's a given - and considering that back then I was drinking vodka and have since upgraded to rum, the chances are the remastered version will be even more rambling and longwinded! π€£
Okay, so I now have an official request to remaster my old Atari ST games from 30+ years ago...
Gee, thanks @antaeus000.co.uk!
Anyone fancy doing some 2D art/animation for shits and giggles? Remastering Curse and Kev's would be a blast, but I need better art...
Of course, this is a personal belief. I am not autistic but one of my daughters is, and I have a number of friends & colleagues who are.
300 characters makes explanation difficult so in short: accepting autism is a good start - embracing it is better!
It's #AutismAcceptanceMonth / #AutismAwarenessDay - time to blow some minds...
- Evolution does not stop
- Progress requires trying multiple approaches
- The brain is the key to the human species' success
Conclusion: Autism is evolution trying to figure out humanity's next step.
#NeuroEvolved
"My measure of success is: did I make something Iβm proud of, and has it impacted my life and other peopleβs lives in a positive way?" - sage words. And best of all, you don't need to shift zillions of copies to be successful this way!
I'm gonna wait for the ST port... π
That would be awesome - given the amount of press that other game creation tools get, Monogame deserves more of a look in! And thanks for the link!
Rest assured - any future Monogame titles I'm involved in will proudly bear the MadeWithMonogame tag! :D
Have I ever mentioned how much I loathe the clock changes?
... okay, maybe I haven't on here!
Maybe my web-search-fu needs some brushing up but...
... where's the association?
Don't get me wrong - it's great to have Monogame linked to something as big as Marvel, but I didn't see the logo in that trailer, and haven't dug up anything online about it.
Got a URL for a blog post or something?
Back after nearly 10 days completely unplugged in Spain drinking rum... wonder if that's gonna make that old code easier or harder to work with!
C64's jumper should be brown... π
First major stumbling block... all that old code was based on a fixed frame rate of 30fps, and all the updates work by counting the number of frames rather than actual times... this is gonna take some work to fix!
