I'm hoping to be in Ireland later this year and want to catch the exhibition. Given the likely timing of my visit, looks like I might be heading to the National Ploughing Champs in Offaly!

Apart from a few wee mistranscriptions here and there, an absolute masterpiece from archives staff, thanks to all for the amazing work over the last few years. #genealogy #speirgorm

This caught my eye whilst rummaging around the newly released 1926 Irish census. Really?? #genealogy #speirgorm

One NZ changing over our cable modem. Except they didn’t - cancelled and emailed the instructions for us to do it. Two long support calls later, and we’re mostly back online.

Catholic churches and chapels before and after emancipation Ever noticed how pre‑1829 Irish Catholic churches are modest on the outside? It wasn’t by accident. Before Emancipation: no bells, no steeples, called “ great chapels” instead of cathedrals — yet built with huge community effort. Plain exteriors, deeply sacred interiors. A story of the development of Irish Catholic church architecture in difficult times.

The recording of my Tipperary Studies talk on Catholic churches and chapels before and after Emancipation is now online for anyone who wants to watch it! eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com?url=https%3A...

If it was a wedding photo, I don't think there would be a child in it, even if another family member. Plus, I think they look a bit older than their early 20s. Do you think it was taken in Scotland? I always thought it was taken in NZ, and one of their daughters.
