I think maybe as an artist I'm too self conscious. My best works are those that I make in some kind of fugue state and then have to force myself to post without refining.
I still haven't progressed past the first few levels since Cohost shut down, maybe I didn't give it a fair shake. I'm sure one of these days I'll come back to it. Dracula's Cave has won my undying loyalty with the original Lion Quest though, I'll continue to play any new games they release.
But I still greatly admire this game. It's so unashamed of what it is, in stark contrast to its extremely self-conscious sequel. I wrote up some of my thoughts on Lion Quest Infinity but had to publish the draft without finishing the game because Cohost was closing.

I wouldn't describe it the same way now. In fact, post-playing droqen's "The End of Gameplay" I cringed when I read my past self saying "I'm not even close to getting all the gameplay" (regarding the hidden collectibles I decided not to hunt for).
