I'm pretty sure the "let me teach you how to use AI" grifters are the same people who sold crypto, keto diets, and CBD oil. It's just the latest snake oil or MLM.

I heard that on the news this morning... it came with a stock market rally. And I can only shake my head and wonder why anyone with enough money to sway the stock market listens to anything he has to say?
I'm pretty sure they kept that quiet on purpose. Not because he's hiding it... But because trolls are shitty and they don't care who they hurt.
He just wants the soundbites for his audience. I doubt they know what reality is. And I think they don't actually care about reality.
I will tell you, this is not something Canadians are forgetting. We are very much not forgetting this, and the feeling of not forgetting is palpable.
I have some exciting news to share: my first book—Evolution: How We and All Living Things Came to Be—is coming back into print with a brand new Sept 1 paperback release from Kids Can Press!

“Premier Eby built his career as a human rights lawyer advocating for the most vulnerable. Yet, as he is confronted by the hard work of governing the province, he has abandoned the people he used to serve and the principles that his party holds dear.”

I'm in Canada, and my news certainly makes me think that Russian disinformation campaigns are responsible for lots of problems (covid misinformation, social media scams, election interference). I don't think other groups are nearly so organized or causing such widespread damage.
I found this article in The New Yorker very informative. Basically, Russia recruits domestic "assets" by offering them money to carry out disruptive activities. It is very cheap for Russia, but very expensive for Europe to defend against.

I think about this post almost every day

I find this very odd. Like being told I'm a Swifty because I can name a song. 😂
Just because I think that any engagement with Trump feeds his narcissism, doesn't mean I support all Liberal policies. I hope Canadians can steer clear of unquestioningly following party lines.
I don't know if there's something like this on your coast, but I know this is one of our government's ways of preparing.
This is a continuing education course at a BC university.

I hope the American people stop him before things spiral further. However, our government and the government of Greenland are preparing for the worst. But Grey Rock is very effective with people like Trump. And Carney is good at being boring.
www.theguardian.com/world/2026/m...
I have seen Carney use Grey Rock in every interaction with Trump. My favorite was during the G7 summit last year. It is an effective way to manage someone like Trump, and caused him to leave the summit early!
This seems like Grey Rock, too, and suggests someone on his team knows psychology.
Not a Carney booster, but I am terrified of Trump deciding to make Canada his "stop an election" move. I would rather Carney say this meaningless nothing than say something that might make us a target. It's best if Trump doesn't notice us at all.
I hate having to do the "look, they're normal just like us" post, but sometimes you have to do that when American propaganda tries to convince everyone Iranians are "animals".
I fear that we are his "get out of an election" card.
These are my thoughts exactly. It is hard to describe how horrifying this is.
I really wish we had more response choices than hearts. It makes me sad that such a thing is worth considering. My hope lies in the fact that most Americans would be appalled by such action.
She's definitely excited to take a course this year. Not sure what she'll end up choosing. 😀
Honestly, Canadians are fearful of this because of his rhetoric in our direction...
My mother was looking at 55+ classes at her local university and found this. Two years ago, a course like this would have been unheard of, but she's considering taking it.

I donated last year and will probably do it again this year. I figure it's a start, and with support they might be able to do more! The Tyee is also really good at supporting independent journalists, too.
I don't know what the Ontario equivalent is, but @thetyee.ca does a great job on reporting for BC and Alberta. They also have great articles for everyone across the country, but most of the local news is focused on the West. 😄
It hosts at least a few independent journalists, like @rachelgilmore.bsky.social and @parismarx.com
So ChatGPT can train on that manuscript and there will be outrage when an AI detector labels that manuscript as AI...
