Making free public transport permanent would cost a fraction of the price of the North East Link toll road.

We can have free and frequent PT - it's about political choices.

Today marks 35 years since the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody made 339 recommendations to address systemic racism and over-incarceration of First Nations people.

Since then, more than 630 First Nations people have died in custody, including 12 so far in 2026.

This is an opportunity for bold generational reform, not tinkering around the edges.

Momentum is growing for significant tax reform in the May budget.

Dozens of groups are today calling for a tax on gas exports of at least 25% - a move that would raise $17 billion each year.

You deserve a home you can afford.

We need rent controls to stop rents going up faster than your wages.

In the last 5 years, Victorian rents have gone up 2.5 times faster than wages.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

The Greens have a plan to freeze rents for two years, then limit them to rise in line with wages.

Check out how much this would save you: greensrentcalculator.com

Free PT is already helping a lot of people avoid spiking petrol prices - but with a lack of services in some areas & issues with overcrowding, the govt urgently needs to increase services.

In the medium term, the govt also needs a plan to electrify V/Line trains.

It's great to see more people using public transport - but as we said when we initially called for free public transport, the government also needs to increase services, to help address crowding and to reach people who don't currently have PT that meets their needs.

Following Greens pressure, public transport will be free across Vic in April! When the government feels the political pressure, good things are possible.

The government should use this month to improve PT services, to give people better options for getting around.

Today, the Greens are calling for an immediate rent freeze to protect renters from the rising cost of living, fuel prices and interest rates.

We know what happens when costs start to rise - property investors try to preserve their profits and renters will be the ones to bear the brunt.

Unlimited rent rises mean affordable housing is a huge issue in our community, and people are really doing it tough.

This is a political choice, and it doesn't have to be this way. You deserve a home you can afford.

While fossil fuel prices spike, renewables are driving down the cost of electricity.

No more coal and gas - renewables for all. For cheaper bills, and for our planet.

Victorian teachers are the lowest paid in the country, earning almost $15,000 less than in NSW, and our public schools receive thousands less per student than other states and territories.

Our teachers deserve better - not just for themselves, but also for Victorian students.

We don’t think it’s right that the gambling industry can make massive donations and influence how politicians vote.

The Greens don’t take corporate donations and we don’t think big corporations should be able to buy influence. So, we’re bringing in laws to stop this.

With petrol prices spiking, the Greens are calling on the govt to make public transport free for the next month - and use that month to invest in permanent measures to improve PT & safe cycling lanes.

(As you can hear in the vid, the corellas are very supportive!)

This latest petrol price spike is exactly why the government should be helping people shift away from expensive petrol cars.

In the longer term we need greater investment in cheaper, more accessible public transport and better bike infrastructure.

Families, young people and renters are already being totally smashed with rising costs and now petrol prices are surging.

The Greens are calling on the government to make public transport free for the next month.

Muslims traumatised after right-wing attack on community dinner A Muslim community in Ballarat is left traumatised after a man barged into a community dinner allegedly throwing punches and yelling abuse.

This must have been such a frightening experience for all those gathered at a community Iftar. My heart goes out to all those impacted.
Once again there has been an attack on people simply practicing their faith. We cannot allow this sort of racism and hate to go unchecked or become normalised.

As a party of peace & non-violence, the Greens believe Australia should be encouraging dialogue and diplomacy. War should always be avoided.

Labor should be urging for peace -- not joining with the Liberals and One Nation to follow Trump into another forever war.

Australians do not want to get dragged into Trump and Netanyahu's illegal war on Iran, which is spiralling out of control.

We are all watching wondering, when will this end? We cannot bomb our way to peace. Violence leads to more violence & it's always civilians who suffer most.

How does Victoria’s underfunding of public schools impact children, families, teachers, and the broader community?

That’s the question we’re hoping to answer on Thursday at the first hearing of the parliamentary inquiry into Vic Labor’s $2.4 billion public school cuts. (1/4)
