Today marks 35 years since the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody made 339 recommendations to address systemic racism and over-incarceration of First Nations people.

Since then, more than 630 First Nations people have died in custody, including 12 so far in 2026.

Free PT is already helping a lot of people avoid spiking petrol prices - but with a lack of services in some areas & issues with overcrowding, the govt urgently needs to increase services.

In the medium term, the govt also needs a plan to electrify V/Line trains.

It's great to see more people using public transport - but as we said when we initially called for free public transport, the government also needs to increase services, to help address crowding and to reach people who don't currently have PT that meets their needs.

Following Greens pressure, public transport will be free across Vic in April! When the government feels the political pressure, good things are possible.

The government should use this month to improve PT services, to give people better options for getting around.

📢 Cyclists protested on Monday morning as Yarra City Council began works to shrink Richmond bike lanes for car parking, despite safety warnings from advocates.

This latest petrol price spike is exactly why the government should be helping people shift away from expensive petrol cars.

In the longer term we need greater investment in cheaper, more accessible public transport and better bike infrastructure.

Families, young people and renters are already being totally smashed with rising costs and now petrol prices are surging.

This must have been such a frightening experience for all those gathered at a community Iftar. My heart goes out to all those impacted.
Once again there has been an attack on people simply practicing their faith. We cannot allow this sort of racism and hate to go unchecked or become normalised.
