The framing of this one is a little off. However, I am still pretty happy with the final piece. This is "the Caucus Race" from Alice in Wonderland where the animals and Alice run a circular race that goes into the sea in a futile effort to dry off. #embroidery 🎨 🧢 πŸͺ‘ 🧡

Turkey and potato croquettes sound amazing. Perhaps I will make some with the leftovers ham and cheese since my Turkey is all used up now!

I just weeded around the potatoes, and they look great. Here's growth progress.

My reaction to this was visceral and immediate. Well done art!

Same here! I just don't experience an aversion to French knots. This was my first attempt to use them and I could have gone on forever. :) Now all I want is an excuse.

One Day

One day I wake too agitated to tap the screen
My throat clenches as I brush my teeth
They are there, behind my teeth, behind my eyes
I can't keep them out, they are in my mind

One day, they will all have been against this

One day I cringe from the signs as I pilot
My car through a jungle of land minds
I must watch the road, not close my eyes
Against the signs that are signs of vehemence

One day they will all have been against this

One day I am at my tasks, trying to complete
My labor in spite of knowing that they are
At their labor, crouched like gremlins in committee
As they seek to pass prohibitions to abiding

One day they will all have been against this all along

First #poem I have written since I was a teen. It has been bumping around in my mind for a bit and needed to get out.

Love all of these as the kinky wife of a trans man. I also do a lot of fiber art.

This is gorgeous, all those French knots! Is there padding under the stitches on the tiger?

I'd call it theoretically a duck, but it's certianly wearing convincing duck's garb now <3

Progress on "The Caucus Race", Alice in Wonderland #embroidery Trying to make each animal distinct and stand out against the sand and water that will be stitched in.

No worries! I appreciate someone trying to help as I hate using work unatributed or without permission. Most of the old Alice illustrations are out of copyright and fair game. However, it's for my personal use and altered too...so meh

This is the last piece I finished from Tenniel

I do a lot of his illustrations and have lists with names and dates, but I just haven't found evidence of him doing this one yet. It's for sure in the same style

The newest WIP #embroidery #art is the caucus race. I love this image but can't find the source. Just 1 person sharing on Flickr, so if you know the illustration please share. I altered it by adding enough to make it round (circular frame planned) and adding the mouse.

Yes!! That is for sure the base image I need to work from <3

I'm struggling to find a version of the jaberwock that will translate well into embroidering and I may end up drawing one from the source art available. I would like to feature at least part of the poem in that one.

Thank you! I am going to be doing both the more "mainstream" characters and the obscure "from the book" scenes. I anticipate 18-20 total scenes, many of which, though not all, based on the Tenniel artwork.

Prairie Fires is a very well written interesting biography. It has lead me down a rabbit hole of other work I am going to consume. I currently have an audible membership though I will be dropping it again soon and that was one of the free to listen selections.

I could absolutely see Anderson in that role. I am listening to a biography of Laura Ingalls Wilder called "Prairie Fires" right now and just re-watched the TV series and reread those books. I have been contemplating art from that series after this!

There are a TON more from the art I want to do.

Thank you! I am having SO much fun doing these. I have to make myself stop stitching because my elbow and hands are sore. I could go all day. lol
