The framing of this one is a little off. However, I am still pretty happy with the final piece. This is "the Caucus Race" from Alice in Wonderland where the animals and Alice run a circular race that goes into the sea in a futile effort to dry off. #embroidery 🎨 🧶 🪡 🧵

May 5th, potatos are sprouting with 4 inch tall leaves
May 13th pots are filled with 6-12 inch growth.
I just weeded around the potatoes, and they look great. Here's growth progress.

Same here! I just don't experience an aversion to French knots. This was my first attempt to use them and I could have gone on forever. :) Now all I want is an excuse.

Animals running in a circle. Half finished embroidery. Beetle, dodo bird, cat, Alice, duck and red kangaroo are finished in color. Lemur, polar bear, mouse, quail, parrot, owl, wild dog and goose are still black and white.

No worries! I appreciate someone trying to help as I hate using work unatributed or without permission. Most of the old Alice illustrations are out of copyright and fair game. However, it's for my personal use and altered too...so meh
This is the last piece I finished from Tenniel
I do a lot of his illustrations and have lists with names and dates, but I just haven't found evidence of him doing this one yet. It's for sure in the same style
Original black and white rectangular image of the caucus race frome Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Various animals, bugs, birds, a dodo etc running in a circle to dry off. The circular path leads them in and out of water.
Same image with the right and left sides penciled in to extend the design into a round image.
Image is transfered to linen fabric and drawn in sharpie. Here's the plastic inner/back part of the round wooden hoop that this will be mounted in to show shape.

I'm struggling to find a version of the jaberwock that will translate well into embroidering and I may end up drawing one from the source art available. I would like to feature at least part of the poem in that one.

Prairie Fires is a very well written interesting biography. It has lead me down a rabbit hole of other work I am going to consume. I currently have an audible membership though I will be dropping it again soon and that was one of the free to listen selections.
I could absolutely see Anderson in that role. I am listening to a biography of Laura Ingalls Wilder called "Prairie Fires" right now and just re-watched the TV series and reread those books. I have been contemplating art from that series after this!
