I later found out that the “Tree of Forgetfulness” was used ritualistically in an attempt to make enslaved people forget their culture and homeland.

I didn't know the history when I painted this, but I don't want to be a part of the forgetting.

I learned something new, and I hope you did too.

I originally named this painting “The Tree of Forgetfulness,” based on a surreal, dreamlike idea of memory.

I didn't know about the history behind that name.

Today is Day 64 of my illustration challenge, and I want to correct a mistake.
