Late to the party at Swineham Point to see the Bluethroat (red-spot) as friends over from France for 6 days. So lucky it has hung aroud and Gillian and I got there today to be spoilt by a very beautiful obliging bird that walked towards us on the path. @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social #ukbirds

Yes - had a friend here the weekend from Granville in France an hour south of Cherbourg and he says he doesn’t put anything out or in until May 1st. I have lots in Greenhouse that I can hold back until I think it’s safe.

My plot looking bare - potatoes (1st & 2nd), onions and parsnip seed in. Just holding on another week or two to add dwarf beans, corn on the cob, leeks, squash, courgette and chard. Hopefully looks better in a few weeks.

Every morning at 0630 I could use Merlin because those bloody birds (that I love) keep me awake.

It’s got to be parody - no USA President would talk in such an un elegant way 🤔

That’s a fair comment.

I read a report in The Guardian today that Great Tits are way ahead of the old norm with egg laying and have adapted in line with caterpillars being available. We currently have Great Tits started incubating 11 eggs two days ago.

Yes many had gathered a following that they didn’t want to lose. I have left many good contacts behind but personally cannot support Musk.

I think the influx from Twitter that swelled when Musk took over has slowed with many staying on X which is disappointing.

I went to the New Forest on Wednesday hoping for Lesser Spotted Woodpecker and Goshawk but just saw a distant Goshawk. Did see this lovely Song Thrush. #ukbirds

What part of the country are you
Tony?

Yes I have gambled a little with half of my seed but near Portland we are well South. The most tender seeds are in my conservatory which is warmer than the greenhouse. Time will tell.

“Low-life” coursers - it’s a pity so much effort wasn’t put in to taking on the “High-life” fox/stag hunts that hide under the guise of trail hunts.
