Exciting to see this young female Sparrowhawk trying to conceal itself behind a bush in the garden. It flew off chasing a blackbird, not sure if it caught it or not.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Black&Red, birds with both Black & Red colours on them set by @robcrank68.bsky.social ~ Decided on the very striking Black Redstart for today's theme - Cardiff - South Wales 😍 🪶🦉 #birdingWales #ukbirding #birdphotography #ECK #ukwildlife #naturephotography

A picture of a male Mallard duck lying down on ghe bank of a lske made of bricks and covered in tufts of green and brown coloured weeds. The duck is facing away from the cameraand and its head with its iridescent green and blue head feathers is turned to the left. The ducks contoured grey, brown and blue coloured wing feathers are folded over its back and come to a point above its blackland white tail feathers that are open and fanned out below. The lake water infront of the duck is dead calm and mirror like and there is the reflection of cage wire and branches in it from the right side of the frame.

Best day for migration so far this spring by looks of things here. A quick look around this evening revealed our overdue first LRP of the year (Bridge Marsh), 100+ Sand Martins and a few Wheatear and Willow Warblers dotted around #ukbirding

A side profile picture of a Pochard with its black and light grey body and copper coloured head feathers. The Pochard is facing to the right on a lake and the reflective and shimmering water is choppy and rippling around it.

For the #BirdoftheDay theme #Red&Black hosted by @robcrank68.bsky.social I hope this Pochard qualifies with its copper colour head feathers. #birds #nature #photography #ECK #ukbirding

Two Mediterranean Gulls standing on wood in shallow water. The gulls are mostly white with light grey wings, blood red bill and legs, with jet black hoods and a clear white eye ring marking.

Nice to see two Mediterranean Gulls on the Moss this early afternoon, along with my first five singing Willow Warblers of the year and a pair of Swallows freshly back in. #ukbirding #birds

Hello everyone. For today's #BirdoftheDay hosted by @robcrank68.bsky.social I thought I'd have a bit of fun with #Pigeons&Doves. It looks like the Pigeon on the right has the told the the one on the left to 'wind it's neck in.' 😆 #birds #nature #photography #ECK #ukbirding

The Bonaparte's Gull showed beautifully in spring sunshine at Myerscough Quarry this afternoon. Redemption for the dip last week and the four I missed during my Big Year! #ukbirding #birds #BirdsSeenIn2026

Yet again West Ardnamurchan delivered on the raptor front. 3 White-tailed and 2 Golden Eagles, plus buzzard, kestrel and peregrine entertained us in Kilchoan this morning. The north coast added Hen Harrier to the day’s list after lunch.

Still chilly out on Ardnamurchan. Migrants limited to a single male Wheatear, a newly arrived Greenshank and plenty of Manxies. 52 Black-headed Gulls was a locally high count on the saltings yesterday. 1200 Pinkfeet & 200 Whoopers went over N this morning.

Still not over the fact that I hit the Corvid jackpot this morning when I managed to see a Jay, several Magpie, Jackdaw, and Carrion Crow, plus a couple of Rook and Raven. Never seen all of them in one birding walk before and I'm still totally made up!
