A male Gadwall x Mallard hybrid, apparently paired with a female Gadwall. The bill almost looks Pintail-like in shape and pattern (although not colour), but is actually typical of this hybrid. See https://birdhybrids.blogspot.com/2014/03/gadwall-x-mallard.html for more examples.

I had almost given up on the Black Redstart in Hathern today when I heard a familiar call and there it was on the roof of the Nave. It quickly vanished and was relocated on the West side of the tower and usually around the barred windows. #ukbirding #vc55birds

Most people at Eyebrook today were looking at the American Golden Plover, but I was more interested in this 1st-winter Caspian Gull and a Rock Pipit as they were site year ticks for me. 😄 Also 2 female Scaup and 5 Red-crested Pochards. #VC55Birds #UKBirding
