Thornton-le-dale was was the destination, Dipper was the bird atop the list of hopefuls, Nuthatch always appreciated due the seemingly distinct lack of them in East Yorkshire

The last time I saw Waxwing, it was Dec ‘23 & I could see 20+ birds perched in a tree next to a Jet garage before I parked the car. Not so easy this bird at Nosterfield today. Eventually, it appeared,
as the clouds darkened & the rain came in. Still, brilliant to see. #birds #yorksbirding #waxwing
.. list, but 8 year ticks today. Could have got Brambling (seen by another birder) & Red-necked Grebe also. What a day. #154 for year. #6 lifers for 2026. #ukbirding #birds #birdsseenin2026 #yorksbirding #birdingupnorth

Wasn’t expecting a group of Barnacle geese to turn up on “my local patch” yesterday afternoon but fantastic to see them a 20min walk away. Worth the mud bath any day

*not sure i can really class it as my local patch if i only visit once or twice a week.

I was just in the nick of time for Eastern Black Redstart this morning, it disappeared while we were there. Fabulous bird. #ukbirding #birds #yorksbirding #filey #fileybrigg
Third time lucky with the Eastern Black redstart.
After two days in the Scarborough rain the sun shone and the bird showed better than I could have hoped. What a beauty

2 Great Shears first thing were a big surprise off Easington, even better they were followed a few mins later by a close in Corys. 3 Sooties, a Puffin and a 'playful' Arctic Skua completed a great pre-work watch #Yorksbirding
Saw 7 Barnacle Geese on Hornsea Mere yesterday, which was a nice surprise #birds #ukbirding #barnaclegeese #yorksbirding @s-yorksbirding.bsky.social @nybirdnews.bsky.social
Lifer number 2. Honey Buzzard - finally! Tried multiple locations, numerous times, for this bird previously and didn’t expect it today so was buzzing after this one… No, really. I was. Cheers. #birds #yorksbirding #honeybuzzard
Lifer number 1 today, the female Ortolan Bunting at Wykeham Forest, this morning. Only had 2 short views of her, inconspicuous and almost nervy, but an absolute belter of a bird. Paired with a Yellowhammer and some said observed with nesting material? #yorksbirding #ortolanbunting #birds
Clockwise from top left: Puffin, Razorbill, Guillemot, and Gannets on the ledges of RSPB Bempton Cliffs, Yorkshire, UK.
RSPB Bempton Cliffs was on top form today, with thousands of sea birds present and often showing at very close quarters. Looking inland was productive as well; Short-eared Owl, singing Corn Buntings, and many Tree Sparrows were notable.
