Brilliant first visit to Spurn and Kilnsea Wetlands, at least 10 wheatear and whimbrel by the sea hide, six yellow wagtails with the highland cows, and masses of other waders along the shoreline even with the strong winds #spurn #yorkshirebirding
A family amble got me overexcited when a Red Kite flew over a field which then revealed a pair of Wheatear and 2 Brown Hare. I nearly burst & my compact camera struggled to contain itself too.

Bit of a surprise after picking up Ada from school - as we were walking back a Cattle Egret flew very low over Paull and out over the Humber.
I'd been expecting one in the fields around here at some point, but wasn't expecting it over the garden!

The male Black Redstart showed well in Pontefract on Saturday. Big thanks to Hep & Abi for allowing me and @unsociable-lapwing.bsky.social access to their garden.

I'm sure I got unnecessarily excited earlier this afternoon when I put out "Red Kite over Oss Wash"
Not something I ever expected to say and in its own way a magical experience.
