A professor once told me lecture prep will take as much time as you give it. I usually worked on my lectures almost to the last minute the first time, but the second time teaching a course was much easier.

From @acoyne.bsky.social "There is no “win-win,” as in most negotiations. There is only a problem to be managed, a matter of stalling for time and presenting as small a target as possible, until Mr. Trump grows too old or enfeebled to menace us further."

To all @activehist.bsky.social readers interested in this topic, please consider attending the CNHH event on June 25, virtually or in person @carleton.ca : "Tracing the History of Indigenous Women’s Internationalism: An Afternoon with Dr @jonathancrossen.bsky.social " carleton.ca/history/cu-e...
Also a good time to remind everyone of @jonathancrossen.bsky.social 's piece about Marie Smallface Marule in the collection I co-edited with the late Greg Donaghy and Stacey Barker, Breaking Barriers, Shaping Worlds: Canadian Women and the Search for Global Order from @ubcpress.bsky.social
Thanks for this response to my previous @activehist.bsky.social post from Jody Mason. I appreciated learning more about the connections between critiques of development and Indigenous activism in Canada.
Green background, with a white graphic image of a tab open on a computer with black text quoting: “If writing is thinking, it follows that outsourcing writing is outsourcing thinking. And this outsourcing is accelerating at a staggering pace. This should concern us all: as educators, but also as citizens.”Underneath it says “Edward Dunsworth” in black text and has a white Active History.ca logo in the bottom right corner.
In today’s post Edward Dunsworth explores and critiques the use of AI in scholarship, academia, and the classroom.

Google and Meta search both report that Cape Breton Island has its own time zone 12 minutes ahead of mainland Nova Scotia time because they are both drawing that information from a Beaverton article I wrote in 2024

Do not normalize children dying from measles. Measles was previously eliminated in the US, thanks to vaccines.
When children die from measles, it means that adults have catastrophically failed to protect them because they have rejected basic science.
Let’s be proudly Canadian…by mimicking Trump’s worst and most inhumane foreign policy measures?
Pierre Poilievre is promising to do for Canadian foreign aid what Donald Trump did for USAID. www.bugeyedandshameless.com/p/pierre-poi...
Sorry I missed this we were away last weekend and I wasn't checking on my notifications very well I guess!
I once had the opportunity to look through health statistics of Nova Scotia prior to the adoption of the measles vaccine and let me tell you, it was bleak. If you’re not sure if your child completed their series, call your doctor. If you’re travelling, call public health - you may need to get one.
