An embroidery hoop containing a sewn aerial view landscape. It depicts an apple orchard in bloom in the centre, allotments to the left and sheep in their field at the bottom. Train tracks go past the top of the orchard and allotment.
Sewn train tracks past an apple orchard (to the left).
An angled view of a sewn vegetable allotment surrounded by rough land, trees and with train tracks to the left.
An angled view of embroidered bushes and paths going through them leading to an orchard, allotment and fields.
'A simple (perfect) life' - my spring landscape is finally finished! An apple orchard in bloom, old railway, sheep with their lambs and an allotment being prepared for growing :) Zoom in to see all the other tiny details too... I think this might be my favourite aerial embroidery I've ever done!

Class III Bike Route - signed cycling routes where cyclists share the roadway with other types of traffic. This type of bikeway does not provide cyclists with increased road privileges; rather it informs motorists of the cycling route #Yegbike
...map libraries may hold more “only known copy” of published works per square foot than their institutions’ special collections departments...
Weessies, K. W. (2026). Pursuing Map Collection Collaboration: A Research Agenda. Journal of Map & Geography Libraries, 1–27. doi.org/10.1080/1542...
Above quote reminds me of Ed Dahl’s statement…
The richest appreciation one can have of a map is to know what prompted that conscious decision to put it there.
The institutional vapor trails that placed a map on a particular floor in a given cabinet drawer.
… a map's journey into the archive can be just as eventful and reflective of history as the intended use the map was put to… It's an important part of the story, not least because it reveals how the Map Library came into existence (James Cheshire - The Library of Lost Maps). A great read!!

Forget about the ants! Beyond that myth, how much can we trust Pliny the Elder's analysis of Roman gold mining? 💰🐜 A new study by Javier Fernández-Lozano & Enrique Ferrari compares the gold mining in the Natural History to geological & ecological evidence—and Pliny is not bad. Aure(a)search!

Archives are
neither dusty
nor old stuff
neither dead
nor boring.
Archives are what we make of them.
Each generation, each of us sees diferent things in an item.
Each of us adds something new every time we engage.
Each item in the archives is the sum of all these interactions.
