“PDSes that are not also auth servers”

When is that not a thing? There’s been talk of it, but I didn’t realize it was a live pattern already.

Introducing attested.network: Proof of Payment for ATProtocol attested.network is an open spec for decentralized proof of payments on ATProtocol, built on what we learned making atprotofans.com. It formalizes the three-party attestation model and opens it up for any app to implement.

Yeah, oil is in fact a renewable source of energy, just on multi-million year time scales 😅

Energy-blindness is the silent killer of collective action. Seriously need all my friends in tech to watch this series.

You can’t understand modern technology without understanding the stock & flow of energy, and there’s no energy abundance as we know it without oil. I don’t like it, but it’s true.

Yesss! I wanna see more of this in the atmosphere, I.e. extending popular services instead of making yet another standalone app.

The everything-account is great, but I still prefer to do the bulk of all events stuff in a single app that’s already trustworthy and familiar to me.

Atmosphere Account The last social account you'll ever need. One account for all your apps.

I built most of this with my consumer-facing blog posts a few months ago but based on recent discourse I thought I'd make a few changes and share. Probably too much info for a page like this, and it's definitely opinionated. Everything is a WIP - including iconography. Would love to hear thoughts!

SembleIt: Semble Without the Distractions Semble is two apps in a trench coat. SembleIt is just the quiet one.

My favorite app on the Atmosphere is @semble.so but it doesn't work exactly like I want all the time so I made a client that does less on purpose.

Evaluating permissioned spaces for community contexts A look at Bluesky's proposed approach to private data on ATProto

Me and @zicklag.dev have been having a closer look at the system sketched out in @dholms.at's Permissioned Data Diaries - we generally like it! And have some scenarios in mind that may be worth considering

Feel you! Can’t really travel transatlantic more than every one or two years any longer because the requisite restitution time keeps going up.

A word on the "what do we call it" discourse:

The goal can't be to be legible, we are so small and tiny and new, it's unreasonable to expect a few words to explain anything

The goal should be to be *recognizable* so if u bump into it multiple times you go, oh that thing

is this anything?

3 days ago 170 16 16 5

that's nice, but a *rich embed* in sifa would be something like my three pinned @tangled.org repos (another imaginary feature) having clickable 'star' buttons in the embedded widget.

3 days ago 1 0 1 0

yeh, or possibly just in the client if that'll suffice, in something like @heron.tunji.dev

3 days ago 1 0 1 0

can you/we please just start going nuts on 'rich embeds' in @bsky.app ?

can't we just go all @npmx.dev on bluesky/atmospheric embeds and implement dozens of these in a few weeks?

bsky and tangled share the same auth, so bsky the app could support "rich" embeds: if a user has a tangled repo in their post, the like button could be a tangled star button instead!

Oof, yeah, it’s like a repeat of the p2p and distributed web3 getting co-opted by blockchain tech.

I think part of the problem is that the lo-fi space is in a quieter period again as another round of foundational tech is landing, like Keyhive. The local LLMs are filling the content gap.

Content moderation with Trust Levels · Issue #67 · muni-town/roomy To counteract disingenuous behavior by new users, we will adopt Discourse’s concept of Trust Levels. This is small-world moderation, at the space-level. For big-world moderation there's #571 Roost'...

Permissions are high up on the list and will promptly follow private data, although that is a very tricky one to do properly on-protocol.

The plan for permissions is to do Trust Levels.

That’d be helpful! Indeed, nesting was never intended, as all threads should be on the same level. But it should be possible to create new threads from within threads.

getting to do this kind of visioning for a more just, (inter)communal world together with so many like minded people was such a life-changing experience

so grateful to @erlend.sh and @zicklag.dev’s support to fully show up as myself and share some of my story 💗
